Nerang, Queensland

The Shire of Albert was a local government area in Queensland, located south of the capital, Brisbane, and taking in areas to the north and west of the Gold Coast. It was named after the Prince Consort of the United Kingdom, and husband of Queen Victoria, Prince Albert. When created in 1948, it was primarily a rural area, but its growth started in earnest in the late 1960s with the development of Logan on Brisbane's southern frontier. After the separate creation of Logan as a shire (later City) in 1978, Albert lost most of its population and became more centred upon the Gold Coast, which experienced a massive period of growth from then until the Shire's amalgamation with the City of Gold Coast in 1995.

William Duncan State School (WDSS) is a public co-educational primary school located in the City of Gold Coast suburb of Highland Park, Queensland, Australia. It is administered by the Department of Education, with an enrolment of 570 students and a teaching staff of 45, as of 2023. The school serves students from Prep to Year 6, and was named after William Duncan, one of the first white settlers in the Nerang area.

Molendinar is a mixed-use suburb in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. In the 2016 census, Molendinar had a population of 6,375 people.

Ernest Junction railway tunnel is a heritage-listed former railway tunnel at 797 Ashmore Road, Molendinar, Gold Coast City, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1885 to 1889 by the Queensland Railway Department. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 3 May 2019.

Carrara Indoor Stadium is a multi-purpose arena located at Carrara on Queensland's Gold Coast and can accommodate 1,600 fans, with additional seating provided if required which can push total capacity for events such as basketball up to 2,962. The stadium stands adjacent to the 25,000 seat Metricon Stadium and forms part of the Carrara Sports Complex. The stadium has the nickname The Greenhouse as even during winter it would get "Hot and steamy as Hades at times", although that changed with $800,000 worth of improvements in 1996 including new air conditioning.The stadium was the home of former National Basketball League team the Gold Coast Rollers who played there from 1990 until 1996, after which their licence was revoked due to financial struggles. The stadium later became the training venue for the NBL's Gold Coast Blaze who played at the larger 5,269 seat Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre until the team folded after the 2011–12 NBL season. Carrara Indoor Stadium's flexible design means it is regularly used for sporting activities ranging from soccer and basketball through to figure skating. The stadium has also been used to hold expos as well special dinners and functions.With the Gold Coast winning the right to host the 2018 Commonwealth Games, plans were put in place to develop a new indoor venue at Carrara under the name of Carrara Sport and Leisure Centre, which will replace the Carrara Indoor Stadium and is slated to host the badminton competition.Squash Australia moved their headquarters to the Carrara Indoor Stadium in 2018.

The 2013 AFL season is the Gold Coast Suns' third season in the Australian Football League (AFL). The Gold Coast Suns reserves team also competed in the NEAFL. The club was again captained by Gary Ablett, Jr. and coached by Guy McKenna.

The opening ceremony for the 2018 Commonwealth Games took place on the evening of Wednesday 4 April in the Carrara Stadium, Gold Coast. As mandated by the Commonwealth Games Charter, the proceedings of the ceremony combined the formal opening of the sporting event (including hoisting of the flags, parade of the athletes and welcome speeches) with an artistic performance to showcase the host nation's culture. The 2018 Games were formally opened by Charles, Prince of Wales. Jack Morton Worldwide was given the contract to produce the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2018 Commonwealth Games. The theme of the opening ceremony was Hello Earth and directed by David Zolkwer.The ceremony began at 20:00 AEST and lasted almost three hours. It was watched by an estimated worldwide television of 1.5 billion. The principal sections of the artistic display represented Australia's Indigenous culture, Gold Coast's Surfers Paradise, wildlife and theme parks. A medley of Australian classics were played live by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Youth Orchestra and Gold Coast Youth Orchestra during the parade of nations. Popular Australian recording artists such as Christine Anu, Delta Goodrem, Katie Noonan and Ricki-Lee Coutler performed at the ceremony. The opening ceremony was seen as a tremendous success and worldwide praised.

The 2007 Gold Coast Titans season was the first in the club's history. They competed in the NRL's 2007 Telstra Premiership, finishing the regular season 12th (out of 16). At the end of the season Luke Bailey and Anthony Laffranchi were named co-winners of the club's inaugural Paul Broughton Medal for best and fairest player of 2007.

The 2011 AFL season was the Gold Coast Suns' first season in the Australian Football League (AFL). The Gold Coast Suns reserves team also competed in the inaugural NEAFL season.
