Singapore General Hospital

Lee Kuan Yew, the founding prime minister of Singapore died at the age of 91 on 23 March 2015, after being hospitalised with severe pneumonia on 5 February that year. Many world leaders issued public condolences.A week-long period of national mourning was declared by the government, from 23 to 29 March that year. All flags, including the National Flag, were flown at half-mast during the period.

The SGH War Memorial is located within the grounds of the Singapore General Hospital (SGH) in Outram. This memorial marked the tragedy and the burial site of a group of medical students from the King Edward VII College of Medicine, who were killed during the Second World War in Singapore. In 2005, the memorial, along with eight other historic sites of SGH, was incorporated as part of the Outram Campus Heritage Trail that allow visitors to explore the important historical landmarks that are closely linked with the history of medical education in Singapore.

The College of Medicine Building (Malay: Bangunan Maktab Perubatan; Chinese: 医药学院大厦) is a historic building in Singapore, located within the grounds of the Singapore General Hospital at Outram Park, within the Bukit Merah Planning Area near Singapore's central business district. Its name comes from its former function as the location for the King Edward VII College of Medicine, the first school of medicine in British Malaya (Present day: Malaysia and Singapore).

Unit Oka 9420 (Japanese: 岡9420部隊, Hepburn: Oka 9420 Butai), also known as the Epidemic Prevention and Water Purification Department of the Southern Expeditionary Army Group (南方軍防疫供水部, Nanpōgun Bōeki Kyūsui-bu), was a disease research unit within the Japanese army. Founded in Nanjing, China in 1942 and headquartered in Japanese-occupied Singapore,: 25–27  the unit had branches in Malaya, Indonesia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Thailand, and Burma, and participated in bacteriological weapons attacks in northern Burma, Yunnan, China, and Papua New Guinea. With a suitable, tropical climate suitable bed for the breeding of rat fleas, Malaya was the largest rat flea farms outside of Japan and China during World War II. The unit left Singapore in mid-1945 and dissolved in 1946.

Bowyer Block, formerly known as the Upper Block, is a historic building which previously served as the main administration building of the Singapore General Hospital. It currently houses the Singapore General Hospital Museum. The building was gazetted as a National Monument in 2009.

Tan Teck Guan Building (Chinese: 陈德源大楼; pinyin: Chén Déyuán dàlóu) is a historic building on College Road, within the compound of Singapore General Hospital in Bukit Merah, Singapore. The building currently houses offices of the Ministry of Health.

The Duke–NUS Medical School (Duke–NUS) is a graduate medical school in Singapore. The school was set up in April 2005 as the Duke–NUS Graduate Medical School, Singapore's second medical school, after the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and before the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. It is a collaboration between Duke University in the United States and the National University of Singapore in Singapore. Duke-NUS follows the American model of post-baccalaureate medical education, in which students begin their medical studies after earning a bachelor’s degree. Students are awarded degrees from both Duke University School of Medicine and the National University of Singapore.

Kampong Bahru Bus Terminal (Malay: Pertukaran Bus Kampong Bahru; Chinese: 甘榜峇鲁路巴士终站) is a bus terminal in Singapore. It is situated along Spooner Road off Kampong Bahru Road in Bukit Merah, and is located near Outram Community Hospital, as well as the Singapore General Hospital.

Everton Park (Chinese: 艾弗顿园) is a subzone within the planning area of Bukit Merah, Singapore, as defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). Its boundary is made up of New Bridge Road and Eu Tong Sen Street in the north; Kampong Bahru Road in the west; the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) in the south; and Cantonment Road in the east.Everton Park also refers to a minor road within the subzone. The subzone took its name from this road.

Rediffusion Singapore (Chinese: 丽的呼声), started in 1949, was the first cable-transmitted radio station in Singapore. It was a Singapore subsidiary of the Broadcast Relay Services (Overseas) Ltd. It was also Singapore's only subscription radio service. Due to decreasing subscription, it closed in 2012. On closure, a former Rediffusion Singapore deejay, Eva Chang Mei Hsiang, bought the radio station and in 2013 re-opened the radio station as an online radio station.Rediffusion Singapore was founded in 1949 as a result of the success encountered in radio broadcasting in Singapore, particularly in the post-World War II era. The cable radio service was seen as a remedy against poor reception which affected certain housing estates until then. Rediffusion Singapore was operated by Overseas Rediffusion, a subsidiary of the Rediffusion broadcasting business based in the United Kingdom, from the former's foundation until the late 1980s, when the British-owned Rediffusion conglomerate was broken up. Since 2000, Rediffusion Singapore provided digital radio services in Singapore. On 15 April 2005, the Media Development Authority issued a five-year licence to Rediffusion Singapore for a subscriber-only Digital Audio Broadcasting service, making it the world's first.Rediffusion went off-air on 30 April 2012 but it resumed broadcasting on 11 November 2013 using the internet to transmit their programs.

Bukit Pasoh Road (Chinese: 武吉巴梳路: Malay: Jalan Bukit Pasoh) is a road in Tanjong Pagar within the Outram Planning Area of Singapore. The road starts from Neil Road which is one way, but becomes two ways, when the road forks out into two parts, with one becoming Teo Hong Road, with both roads ending at New Bridge Road. The road is mainly lined with conserved shophouses and houses a high-end boutique hotel known as the New Majestic Hotel.
