Cowden

The London to Lewes Way is a 71 kilometres (44 mi) long Roman road between Watling Street at Peckham and Lewes in Sussex. The road passes through Beckenham and West Wickham, then crosses the North Downs above Titsey, on the county boundary between Surrey and Kent, and is overlain by Edenbridge High Street. The road continues on this alignment onto the high ground of Ashdown Forest, where the more grassy vegetation on the silted up outer ditches contrasts very clearly with surrounding heather in aerial photographs, then descends through Piltdown to Lewes, linking with the Sussex Greensand Way at Barcombe Mills and with a network of roads at Lewes.

The Queens Arms is a Grade II listed public house at Hartfield Road, Cowden in Kent. It is on the Campaign for Real Ale's National Inventory of Historic Pub Interiors.It was built in the mid 19th century. This unspoilt two bar pub was saved from closure in 2014 when the long standing landlady gave up her tenure. Elsie Maynard took over the licence from her mother Annie in 1973. The pub had been in the hands of the same family since 1913 and is still known locally as Annie's. Originally a Tied house of E. & H. Kelsey Brewery of Tunbridge Wells, house it passed to J.W. Green of Luton and later to Whitbread and Admiral Taverns. It is now in private hands. It was famed for many years for having a hand painted sign "Lager not sold here" sign to the left of the front door.

Cowden railway station is on the Uckfield branch of the Oxted line in southern England and serves Cowden in Kent. It is 29 miles 26 chains (29.33 miles, 47.19 km) from London Bridge. The station is managed by Southern.

The Cowden rail crash occurred on 15 October 1994, near Cowden Station in Kent (UK), when two trains collided head-on, killing five and injuring thirteen, after one of them had passed a signal at danger and entered a single-line section. The cause was driver error, possibly involving a guard who was in the cabin against regulations.

Cowden Meadow is a 1.1-hectare (2.7-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest east of Cowden in Kent.This site has flora which are found on grassland sites which have not been cultivated for many years, such as quaking grass, oxeye daisy and pepper saxifrage. Wetter areas are dominated by hard rush.A public footpath runs along the southern end of the site.

Bassetts Manor is a Grade II-listed building in Hartfield, East Sussex, England.

Markbeech (sometimes styled Mark Beech) is a village in the civil parish of Hever in the Sevenoaks district of Kent, England. The village is located on the northern ridges of the High Weald, nine miles (13 km) north-west of Tunbridge Wells. The church, part of a united benefice with Hever and Four Elms, is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. There is a village hall, a pub - The Kentish Horse, and a thriving cricket club.

Cowden Pound Pastures is a 5.9-hectare (15-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Cowden in Kent. It is managed by the Kent Wildlife Trust.This is unimproved neutral grassland, which is a nationally rare habitat, and it is grazed to prevent scrub invading the pasture. Grasses include crested dog's tail and common knapweed, and an area of wet grassland by a stream has jointed rush and water mint.There is access from the drive to Walnut Tree Cottage on Hartfield Road, but the gate is padlocked.

Sundridge and Ide Hill is a civil parish in the Sevenoaks District of Kent, England. It is located in the Darenth valley and lies between Sevenoaks and Westerham. The parish contains the villages of Sundridge and Ide Hill and the hamlet of Goathurst Common. It lies within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and within London's Metropolitan Green Belt. It is approximately 21 miles south of London. The parish was created in 1973, when the settlements of Sundridge and Ide Hill were merged into a parish. Between the two villages is Emmetts Garden, a National Trust property. According to the 2011 census, the total population of the parish was 1,877. Of that total, there were 917 males and 960 females living in the parish.

Bolebroke Castle is a 15th-century hunting lodge located north of the village of Hartfield, East Sussex, England. It is a Grade II* listed building.The house was built around 1480. Henry VIII is said to have stayed at Bolebroke when he went hunting for wild boar and deer in nearby Ashdown Forest. It lies only 5 miles (8.0 km) from Hever Castle and was the base from which King Henry conducted his courtship of Anne Boleyn.The house was used as a location in the 2008 film The Other Boleyn Girl.The Bolebroke Castle Miniature Railway was located within the castle grounds.

The Bolebroke Castle Miniature Railway or Bolebroke Castle and Lakes Railway (often abbreviated to BC&LR) was a 7+1⁄4 inches (180 mm) railway that ran within the grounds of Bolebroke Castle. The railway was approximately 2+1⁄2 miles (4.0 km) in length, however, only parts of the railway were open freely to the public. The railway closed in 2012 after the owner's passing, and the stock/track was distributed to volunteers and new owners.

Neverworld, formerly known as LeeFest, is a music festival that takes place each Summer in Kent, England. The festival began in founder Lee Denny's garden when his parents went away on holiday in 2006. Despite the festival's small scale in its first two years, by 2011 LeeFest grew into a two-day event with enough capacity for 2,000 people. The festival's capacity has since expanded to 5,000, moving to a new site in 2016. Around 200 volunteers help out during the festival. The festival has won two awards and been nominated for several more. Awards include: 'Best Independent Festival' at AIM Independent Music Awards, 2012 and 'Best Grass Roots Festival' at the UK Festival Awards 2009. Denny was awarded the Spirit of London Awards ‘Achievement in The Arts in December 2012. In the same year he was also placed in Time Out UK 2012: 100 Culture List in the UK's Time Out magazine, considering him "One of the inspiring 100 people in the UK who have made others lives better".
