Arlesey ( ARL-zee) is a town and civil parish in the Central Bedfordshire district of Bedfordshire, England. It is near the border with Hertfordshire, about three miles north-west of Letchworth Garden City, four miles north of Hitchin and six miles south of Biggleswade. Arlesey railway station provides services to London, Stevenage and Peterborough. The Domesday Book mentions Arlesey. The town's name means the 'island of a man named Aelfric'.

Three Counties railway station is a disused railway station near Arlesey in Bedfordshire, England. It served the southern environs of Arlesey. These included the Three Counties Lunatic Asylum, which was finally subsequently known as the Fairfield Hospital. The station was north of Hitchin on the "London-Peterborough" line. It opened in 1866, and closed to passengers in 1959.

Letchworth Cemetery (properly the Icknield Way Cemetery) was the first burial ground for Letchworth Garden City in Hertfordshire. Letchworth's first cemetery and bordered by Icknield Way and Wilbury Hills Road, the cemetery is now closed for new burials but can be used if graves are being reopened and for prepurchased plots. Cremated remains are also still being interred at the cemetery. The car gates open and close automatically each day at dawn and dusk. Letchworth Cemetery has a small chapel which is available for services for children's funerals and can seat about eight mourners. The chapel also houses the Book of Remembrance which is available to view every day of the year, either inside or through its position at a rear window. It has 15 military graves from World War II which are maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.Today burials in Letchworth take place at the nearby Wilbury Hills Cemetery.In 2013 the cemetery featured in an episode of the BBC series Who Do You Think You Are? when the actress Una Stubbs visited the grave of her great-grandfather, garden city pioneer Sir Ebenezer Howard.

Wilbury Hill Camp is a late Bronze Age (about 700 BC) hill fort west of Letchworth in Hertfordshire. It and Arbury Banks near Ashwell are two of a line of six similar hill forts along the northern Chilterns. It is a scheduled ancient monument. The site is marked by two circular defences formed by single banks and external ditches. Although these are no longer conspicuous on the ground, distinct cropmarks generated by the buried features have been recorded by aerial photography since the 1950s. During the Middle Iron Age (about 400 BC) more substantial banks were built. Many Roman coins were collected by the local antiquarian William Ransome when the extreme northern corner of the enclosure was quarried for railway ballast in the mid-19th century. The River Hiz is a small (10 miles (16 km)) tributary river in Hertfordshire that feeds the River Ivel that, in turn, feeds the River Great Ouse. Starting at its source of a chalk fed spring just south of the village of Charlton, the river winds its way through the county of Hertfordshire, moving its way into and through Hitchin, where it meets the River Oughton and River Purwell. The Hiz finally meets the River Ivel near the village of Henlow. The Hicca Way, inaugurated in 2012, is a footpath which follows the course of the river. The Hiz is a focal point in the town of Hitchin, with a market that takes place historically by its banks. The Hiz also runs past the Arlesey Old Moat and Glebe Meadows nature reserve in Arlesey. Although small, the Hiz attracts a great deal of wildlife. There are many birds around this area, which include swans, ducks, coot and kingfishers. Fish inhabit the river (trout mainly) and there is also evidence of otters.

Stotfold is a town and civil parish in the Central Bedfordshire borough of Bedfordshire, England. The town covers 2,207 acres (8.93 km2) and the River Ivel passes through the town. The population at the 2011 census was 9,632. Stotfold is close to the county border with Hertfordshire.
