Kot (valley)

Rjavina is a mountain in Slovenian Julian Alps. It rises 2,532 m (8,307 ft) above sea level. Located between two Alpine glacial valleys, Kot and Krma, it offers nice views to some of the highest Slovenian peaks, including Triglav, Škrlatica and Rž. Southeast of the peak there lies one of the highest alpine huts in Slovenia, The Valentin Stanič lodge, at 2,332 m (7,651 ft) above sea level.

Krma is an alpine valley in the Julian Alps in the Upper Carniola region of northwestern Slovenia. The entire valley lies in Triglav National Park.

The Radovna Valley (Slovene: Radovna, dolina Radovne) is an alpine valley in the Julian Alps in northwestern Slovenia, traditionally part of Upper Carniola. It is included in Triglav National Park in its entirety.

Zgornja Radovna (pronounced [ˈzɡoːɾnja ˈɾaːdɔu̯na]) is a dispersed settlement in the Municipality of Kranjska Gora, northwestern Slovenia, belonging to the traditional region of Upper Carniola. The village lies at the juncture of the Kot Valley and the northern part of the Krma Valley (i.e., the Lower Krma Valley, Slovene: Spodnja Krma). The Radovna River, a tributary of the Sava Dolinka, emerges under the Jutrova Skala Slope (Jutrova skala) in the northeastern part of the settlement.

Veliki Draški vrh is a mountain in Slovenia.

The Triglav Lodge at Kredarica (Slovene: Triglavski dom na Kredarici) (2,515 m) is the highest mountain hut in Slovenia and the highest meteorological station in the country. It stands on a small plateau just under the peak of Kredarica, an elevation in the ridge between Rjavina and Triglav. The Valentin Stanič Lodge (Dom Valentina Staniča) stands to the northeast below Begunje Peak (Begunjski vrh, 2,460 m), and the Planika Lodge at Triglav (Dom Planika pod Triglavom) stands to the south. In the vicinity there is also a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Snows, and a few metres away there is a small cave named Ivačič Cave.

Tosc (2,275 metres or 7,464 feet), formerly also known as Tolstec, is a mountain of the central Julian Alps, located in Upper Carniola, western Slovenia. The mountain stands south of Triglav, rising above the Voje Valley to the south and Big Field Pasture (planina Velo polje) to the west. There is a steep gorge in it facing the Krma Valley to the northeast.

The Planika Lodge at Triglav (Slovene: Dom Planika pod Triglavom; 2401 m) is a mountain hut, which lies on the Ledine plains on the southern side of Mount Triglav. The First hut, also called the Triglav Tempe (Triglavski tempelj), was built on 18 September 1871. In 1877, the Austro-German hiking club built a hut called the Maria Theresa Hut (German: Maria Theresia-Hütte; Slovene: Koča Marije Terezije). On 13 August 1911, there was another building added called the Maria Theresa Lodge (Dom Marije Terezije). After World War I, the Slovenian Hiking club took over the hut and renamed it the Aleksander Lodge (Aleksandrov dom). The hut was transformed to a border garrison Karaula for a while. In 1945, the Gorje Hiking Club (PD Gorje) renamed it to Planika Lodge at Triglav. In 1987, Karaula was demolished and a bigger annex was built at its place on 19 August 1992.

Triglav (pronounced [ˈtɾiːɡlau̯]; German: Terglau; Italian: Tricorno), with an elevation of 2,863.65 metres (9,395 ft 2+1⁄8 in), is the highest mountain in Slovenia and the highest peak of the Julian Alps. The mountain is the pre-eminent symbol of the Slovene nation, appearing on the coat of arms and flag of Slovenia. It is the centrepiece of Triglav National Park, Slovenia's only national park. Triglav was also the highest peak in Yugoslavia before Slovenia's independence in 1991.

Aljaž Tower (Slovene: Aljažev stolp) or the Triglav Tower (Triglavski stolp) is a tower, a storm shelter and a triangulation point on the summit of Mount Triglav in northwestern Slovenia. Along with Triglav, it is a landmark of Slovenia and a symbol of the Slovenehood. The tower was designed by Jakob Aljaž, a priest in the Upper Carniolan village of Dovje, who also had it erected, in 1895. Today it is owned by the state, tended by the Ljubljana Matica Alpine Club and stands on a parcel belonging to the Municipality of Bohinj.

The Upper Sava Valley (Slovene: Zgornjesavska dolina) is an alpine valley in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia. The Sava Dolinka River flows along it. It begins in Rateče at an elevation of 870 m and ends at Moste at 560 m. It is the geographical border between the Julian Alps and the Karawanks. It was created on a tectonic fault that runs down the middle of the valley. Its geomorphological forms are a result of the actions of the river and glaciers. A number of smaller valleys lead into it from both sides. The largest settlements in the valley are Kranjska Gora and Jesenice. Some of the traditional and modern settlements are located on active alluvial fans that may cause a threat of the modelled torrents and debris flows.

The Slovenian Alpine Museum (Slovene: Slovenski planinski muzej) is a mountaineering museum in Mojstrana in the vicinity of Triglav National Park (Julian Alps) in northwestern Slovenia. It was opened on 7 August 2010 by the president of Slovenia, Danilo Türk. It is operated by the Jesenice Upper Sava Museum. In June 2016, the Swiss King Albert I Memorial Foundation bestowed it the Albert Mountain Award for its important contribution to the sustainable development of the Alpine space.
