The canton of Rennes-5 is an administrative division of the Ille-et-Vilaine department, in northwestern France. It was created at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Rennes.It consists of the following communes: Rennes (partly) Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande

École des hautes études en santé publique (English: EHESP French School of Public Health), with a campus in both Rennes and Paris is designed to form the next generation of French and international professionals in public health. It is a 'grande ecole.' EHESP employs 90 full-time professors and has a student population of 1300 (excluding the 7000 training participants).

The Agrocampus Rennes (in French called in full École nationale supérieure agronomique de Rennes, meaning "Higher Institution for agricultural sciences of Rennes") was a French grande école created in 1849, training students mostly in the agronomy and life sciences fields. In 2008, Agrocampus Rennes was merged with Institut National d'Horticulture et de Paysage, another agricultural sciences school located in western France, to create Agrocampus Ouest.

Agrocampus Ouest is a French higher education institution, known as a grande école. Its official name is Institut supérieur des sciences agronomiques, agroalimentaires, horticoles et du paysage (English: Higher Institute for agricultural sciences, food industry, horticulture and landscape management). It operates under the supervision of the French Ministry of Agriculture. It trains agricultural sciences engineers and research scientists. It has two campuses in western France, one in Rennes and the other in Angers.

The Canal d'Ille-et-Rance (French pronunciation: ​[kanal dil e ʁɑ̃s], literally Canal of Ille and Rance; Breton: Kanol an Il hag ar Renk) is a 79 km (49 mi) long canal in northwestern France connecting Dinan to the Vilaine at Rennes, thus forming part of the English Channel/Atlantic Ocean link which has long been used by yachtsmen, but has also become increasingly popular as a cruising waterway in its own right. It takes its name from the rivers Ille and Rance. Several hire firms are based on the canal or its connecting waterways. From Dinan the navigation continues in the semi-tidal river Rance for a further 6 km to Le Châtelier lock, below which navigation continues in the tidal Rance maritime. The canal has a summit level 7 km in length at an altitude of 65m, and in times of drought some restrictions may have to be imposed on the use of locks.

Rennes 2 University (UR2; French: Université Rennes 2) is a public university located in Upper Brittany, France. It is one of the four universities in the Academy of Rennes. The main campus is situated in the northwest section of Rennes in the Villejean neighborhood not far from the other campus, located at La Harpe.

The Rennes University Hospital (French: Centre hospitalier universitaire de Rennes or CHU Rennes) is a university hospital in Rennes in France. It employs 7,700 people and processes nearly 1,500 hospitalisations per day. It was the second largest employer in the Rennes region. It is one of 42 French hospital equipped with the da Vinci Surgical System. In 2014, the Rennes University Hospital was ranked in the top 10 hospitals in France.

Rennes Cathedral (French: Cathédrale Saint-Pierre de Rennes) is a Roman Catholic church located in the town of Rennes, France. It has been a monument historique since 1906.The cathedral, dedicated to Saint Peter, is the seat of the Archbishop of Rennes, Dol, and Saint-Malo, previously Bishop of Rennes.

The Roazhon Park is a football stadium in Rennes, Brittany, France. Roazhon [ˈrwɑːzən] is the Breton name of Rennes. The stadium was inaugurated on 15 September 1912. It is located at 111 route de Lorient, in west-central Rennes. Rebuilt in 2001 and able to seat 29,778, the stadium is currently the home of Stade Rennais. The stadium has hosted France men's and women's national football team matches. On 19 and 20 June 2016 it hosted the semifinals of the Top 14 rugby union tournament. It was also selected as a venue for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup, in which it hosted six matche: four in the group stage, one in the Round of 16, and one quarter final.

The Hôtel de Blossac is an 18th-century hôtel particulier in the historic center of Rennes, Brittany. The building, which has two main wings, was constructed in 1728. (A fire in 1720 had destroyed much of the city of Rennes.) The architect is said to have been Jacques Gabriel. The building has a unique classical architecture for Brittany, including its size, the assembly of several architectural components, and its grand staircase. Property of the La Bourdonnaye family, earls of Blossac, for nearly two centuries, it was leased by the city as the residence of the commander in chief of the province of Brittany, with a pomp reminiscent of the court of France. At the French Revolution, it was divided into apartments and became a residential building, where the author Paul Féval was born. The building was designated as a historic monument in 1947, and underwent a complete exterior restoration spread over three decades, while the apartments give way to offices. It has been wholly owned by the state since 1982 and houses, in refurbished and restored rooms, the Direction régionale des affaires culturelles (DRAC, Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs of Brittany) and in service quarters, the service territorial de l’architecture et du patrimoine (Territorial Service of architecture and heritage of Ille-et-Vilaine).

The Basilica Saint-Sauveur in Rennes (French: basilique Saint-Sauveur de Rennes) is a minor basilica of the Roman Catholic Church, known as Our Lady of Miracles and Virtues (in French: Notre-Dame des Miracles et Vertus), located in the heart of the historic city center of Rennes in France. It was founded under the name of Saint-Sauveur before the 11th century. Expanded several times and rebuilt in the early 18th century, it was the seat of a parish for nearly three hundred years, until the Second World War, and again from 2002. Following several events described as miraculous in the 14th and 18th centuries, the cult of Mary developed strongly, culminating in its erection as a basilica in 1916. The building is classical in style and is particularly noteworthy for its furnishings: the baldachin of the high altar, the wrought iron pulpit, the organ, as well as the numerous ex-votos left by the faithful.
