Afon Fathew

Ynysymaengwyn was a gentry house in the parish of Tywyn, Gwynedd (formerly Merioneth), situated near the left bank of the River Dysynni. The name means 'the white stone island'.

Bryncrug (), sometimes spelt Bryn-crug, is a village and community in Gwynedd, Wales. Afon Fathew flows through the village and into the River Dysynni. The village is situated to the north east of the town of Tywyn, at the junction of the A493 and B4405 roads. Although the village is usually spelt Bryncrug in English, the community name uses the Welsh language version, Bryn-crug. The population of the community taken at the 2011 census was 622.To the south west of the village stood Ynysymaengwyn, a mansion built in 1758 but now demolished. To the south stood Cynfal motte-and-bailey castle, built in 1137 by Cadwaladr ap Gruffydd, brother of Owain Gwynedd.The poet David Richards (1751-1827), bardic name Dafydd Ionawr, was born at Glanyrafon near Bryncrug. Mary Jones, famous for walking to Bala at the age of sixteen to buy a Bible, lived in the village when older, and was buried in the village after her death in 1864.The football club, Tywyn & Bryncrug FC (Welsh language: Clwb Pêl-droed Tywyn a Bryncrug), play their home matches in the village.

Llanegryn is a village and a community in Gwynedd, north-west Wales. It was formerly part of the historic county of Merionethshire (Welsh: Meirionnydd, Sir Feirionnydd). It is located within Snowdonia National Park south of the Snowdonia (Eryri) mountain range. Travelling by road, it is around 4 miles (6 km) north-east of Tywyn and 17 miles (27 km) south-west of Dolgellau. The nearest railway stations are at Tonfanau and Llwyngwril, both less than 3 miles (5 km) away. Llanegryn is named for St Egryn, with llan meaning church or parish – a common feature in Welsh place names. The village lies in the Dysynni Valley (Dyffryn Dysynni).

The Bala Fault is a SW-NE trending geological fault in Wales that extends offshore into Cardigan Bay. In the offshore area it is a major normal fault and forms the bounding structure to the Cardigan Bay Basin, with a fill including about 2,500 metres (8,200 ft) of Lias Group. Onshore it is responsible for the lineament which runs through Bala and south of Cadair Idris to the coast at Tywyn. At its northeastern end it links to the similarly orientated Llanelidan Fault. The fault is believed to have had two separate stages of movement. The horizons between the upper Carboniferous sequence and the underlying Jurassic sequence are parallel, so little rotational movement occurred. The second stage of movement happened in the middle-to-late Jurassic period, when strong rotation happened, up to 24 degrees.

Pendre railway station (also known as Tywyn Pendre railway station, or formerly as Towyn Pendre railway station) is a station on the Talyllyn Railway in Tywyn, Gwynedd in mid-Wales. It is 0.42 miles (0.68 km) from Tywyn Wharf, which is the primary station and western terminus of the railway. Pendre is the site of the railway's locomotive and carriage sheds, and engineering works. Passenger trains stop at Pendre by request only.'Pendre' is Welsh for 'End-of-town'.

Corbett Arms Hotel is a Grade II listed building on Corbett Square Tywyn, Gwynedd. The building is located at one end of the Tywyn High Street near the recently (2010) refurbished Tywyn Cinema, The Magic Lantern. The hotel was the principal hotel in Tywn and is first recorded in 1833. It was part of the estate of John Corbett of Ynysmaengwyn, who more than doubled the building in size and added a second 'T' to its name, originally The Corbet Arms.The hotel is in a late Georgian style, three stories high and attic with a slate roof. It has been listed Grade II by Cadw since the 1970s.

Broad Water, or Broadwater (Welsh: Aber Dysynni) is a salt water lagoon near Tywyn, Wales formed from the silted up estuary of the River Dysynni. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, the estuary was used by the shipbuilding industry, as small sailing ships were launched to carry peat from the local peat bogs. This industry was abandoned in the nineteenth century when the estuary became too silted up, forming the lagoon. The outflow of the lagoon flows beneath a railway bridge before entering Cardigan Bay. The area is a haven for many wetland birds, and has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

St Cadfan's Church (Welsh: Eglwys Cadfan) is situated in Tywyn in the county of Gwynedd, formerly Merionethshire, Wales. The church is noted for its Romanesque architecture and for housing the Cadfan Stone, a stone cross dating from ninth century or earlier which is inscribed with the oldest known written Welsh. Brut y Tywysogion states that the church was sacked by Vikings in 963, and during the twelfth century it was the subject of a memorable poem by Llywelyn Fardd (I). The earliest parts of the building date to the twelfth century, and it originally had a central tower, although this fell down in 1693.The church houses two fourteenth-century monuments. One of the effigies is of an unknown priest in full Eucharistic vestments. The other is a military figure thought to be Gruffudd ab Adda (d. c. 1350) of Dôl-goch and Ynysymaengwyn. The effigy is known as the 'Crying Knight' due to a flaw in the stone at his right eye which becomes damp during wet weather, giving the impression of weeping.The vicarage, which was built in the early 19th century, still stands on National Street. It is now a private house called 'Tŷ Cadfan Sant'. National Street (formerly Duck Street) was named after the National School, later Towyn Church School, which was once located on the street.

Tywyn Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Tywyn) is a health facility in Tywyn, Gwynedd, Wales. It is managed by the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.

Rhydyronen railway station (also known as Rhyd-yr-onen railway station) is a request stop on the Talyllyn Railway, near Tywyn, Gwynedd in mid-Wales. It was built in 1867 to serve local farms, and the village of Bryn-crug. The name 'Rhyd-yr-onen' means 'Ford of the ash tree'.

Peniarth is a village in the community of Meifod, Powys, Wales. It is 87.1 miles (140.2 km) from Cardiff and 156.9 miles (252.5 km) from London. It is represented in the Senedd by Russell George (Conservative). It is part of the Montgomeryshire constituency in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament. In 2013, the village was in the news when plans to build a row of electricity pylons was abandoned by National Grid, following local opposition.
