Lancing Carriage Works was a railway carriage and wagon building and maintenance facility in the village of Lancing near Shoreham-by-Sea in the county of West Sussex in England from 1911 until 1965.

Lancing railway station is in Lancing in the county of West Sussex, England. It is 8 miles 19 chains (13.3 km) down the line from Brighton. The station is operated by Southern. Platform 1 is for trains to Brighton and London Victoria, and Platform 2 is for trains to Worthing, Portsmouth Harbour and Southampton. The station has 1 ticket office located on Platform 2, and 3 self-service ticket machines, two on Platform 1 and one outside the front of the main station building adjoining Platform 2. There are ticket barriers at this station, in operation from 6 am until midnight every day. Additional ticket checks are carried out at the exits from the platforms, by Southern Railway staff and Rail Neighbourhood Officers.

Lancing Football Club is a football club based in Lancing, West Sussex, England. They are members of the Isthmian League South East Division and play at Culver Road.

Montpelier Villa F.C. is an English football club located in Falmer, Brighton in East Sussex. The club are currently members of the Southern Combination Division One and play at Culver Road, Lancing.

The Brighton and Hove Built-up area or Brighton/Worthing/Littlehampton conurbation has a population of 474,485 (2011 census), making it England's 12th largest conurbation. This was an increase of around 3% from the 2001 population of 461,181. Named the Brighton/Worthing/Littlehampton conurbation by the Office for National Statistics for the 2001 census and Brighton and Hove Built-up area for the 2011 census, the area has also been known as Greater Brighton, although the Greater Brighton City Region that was created in 2014 from seven local authorities in Sussex covers a much larger area. The conurbation dominates West and East Sussex, with around one in three of Sussex's population living within its boundaries. It is also the second largest conurbation in the South East region of England and the second largest conurbation on the English Channel coast, in either England or France. In both of these cases the Brighton conurbation trails the Southampton and Portsmouth conurbation. The Brighton/Worthing/Littlehampton conurbation was the largest on the Channel before Portsmouth and Southampton's conurbations were combined for much official data analysis after the 2011 census. This conurbation is also the UK's most densely populated major conurbation outside London with 5,304 inhabitants per square kilometre (13,740/sq mi). This is due to its tight boundaries between the South Downs national park to the north, and the English Channel to the south together with less land devoted to domestic gardens in English seaside towns than in inland towns. It is a multi-centred conurbation and the eastern part, the city of Brighton and Hove, has approximately half of its population.

Lancing is a large coastal village and civil parish in the Adur district of West Sussex, England, on the western edge of the Adur Valley. It occupies part of the narrow central section of the Sussex coastal plain between smaller Sompting to the west, larger Shoreham-by-Sea to the east, and the parish of Coombes to the north. Excluding definitive suburbs it may have the largest undivided village cluster in Britain. However, its economy is commonly analysed as integral to the Brighton/Worthing/Littlehampton conurbation. Its settled area beneath the South Downs National Park covers 3.65 square miles (9.5 square kilometres; 2,340 acres), the majority of its land. The Lancing area is characterised by mid-rise coastal urban homes, farmland, and wildlife reserves of the northern chalk downs and River Adur estuary. There are non-religious structures that date back to the early 16th century. The population in 2002 was approximately 19,000 in 2002. In the 2011 census the population for Lancing and Coombes was recorded as 18,810. The village was a popular seaside resort in the mid-19th century. Summer tourist hallmarks are the traditional guesthouses on the A259 coast road, as well as a caravan/campsite in Old Salts Farm Road, and beach chair hire and ice cream businesses.

The Sir Robert Woodard Academy is a mixed gender academy, sponsored by Woodard Schools and West Sussex County Council, in Lancing, West Sussex which opened in September 2009. Their motto is “Inspire to Achieve.” Children from ages 11 to 18 can be enrolled in that academy. The academy, which serves the communities of Lancing and Sompting, replaced Boundstone Community College, which closed in August 2009. The academy is named after Robert Woodard, great-grandson of Nathaniel Woodard.

Boundstone Community College was a co-educational comprehensive school for pupils aged 11 to 18, with around 1,000 pupils, including over 100 in the Sixth Form, which served the communities of Lancing and Sompting. The school closed on 31 August 2009, being replaced by the Sir Robert Woodard Academy.

Sompting is a village and civil parish in the coastal Adur District of West Sussex, England between Lancing and Worthing. It is half grassland slopes and half developed plain at the foot of the South Downs National Park. Twentieth-century estates dovetail into those of slightly larger Lancing.

St James the Less Church is the Anglican parish church of Lancing, an ancient village which has been absorbed into the modern town of Lancing in the district of Adur, one of seven local government districts in the English county of West Sussex. It was founded in the 12th century in the most northerly of the three settlements in Lancing parish, which has Saxon origins. The present building is mostly 13th-century in appearance, and structural work has been carried out several times since—particularly in the 18th and 19th centuries, when the church was restored from a ruinous condition. English Heritage has listed the church at Grade I for its architectural and historical importance.

Lancing is an electoral division of West Sussex in the United Kingdom, and returns one member to sit on West Sussex County Council.

Lancing Ring is a 29.4-hectare (73-acre) Local Nature Reserve in Lancing in West Sussex. It is owned and managed by Adur District Council.This chalk grassland site is notable for butterflies, adders, and common lizards. There is also deciduous woodland with wildflowers including early purple orchids and a dew pond, the habitat of dragonflies such as the broad-bodied chaser, Libellula depressa, and numerous newts. There is access from Mill Road via the main car park and Halewick Lane has an area for parking beside the children's play area at the foot of the hill. There is a volunteer group that assists Adur District council with conservation management, the Friends of Lancing Ring, formed in 1989.
