Le Garric

The Compagnie minière de Carmaux (Carmaux Mining Company), or Société des mines de Carmaux, was one of the first coal mining companies in France. It was founded in 1752 in the isolated Carmaux basin. The company was at first slow to expand and modernize, but grew much faster after the introduction of a railway connection in the 1850s. A strike in 1892 drew national attention and had an important impact on French labour relations. By 1900 there were almost 3,500 miners and 500,000 tons of coal were produced each year. Demands increased with the two world wars of the 20th century, and foreign miners were brought in to compensate for shortage of French laborers. The company was nationalized in 1946.

Cagnac-les-Mines (French pronunciation: [kaɲak le min]; Occitan: Canhac de las Minas) is a commune in the Tarn department in southern France. It is a former coalmining town for workers of the Compagnie minière de Carmaux. It has a mining museum, whereupon is standing a huge miners safety lamp.

The settlement grew up around the home of Gabriel de Solages (1711–1799), who founded the Compagnie minière de Carmaux and a glassworks at his château at Blaye.

Albi-Madeleine station (French: Gare d'Albi-Madeleine) is a railway station in Albi, Occitanie, France. The original station opened in 1857 and the current station opened in 1899. It is on the Toulouse to Rodez railway line, and is served by Intercités de Nuit (night train) and TER (local) services. The original station was called Albi-Midi, when it opened on 7 December 1857.

Saint-Juéry (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃ ʒɥeʁi]; Occitan: Sant Juèri) is a commune in the Tarn department in southern France. It lies adjacent to the east of Albi, the prefecture of Tarn.

Circuit Les Planques was a 9.226 km (5.733 mi) long motor racing road circuit in a triangular shape, located near Albi. The circuit was later shortened to 8.911 km (5.537 mi) in 1934, and again to 2.991 km (1.859 mi) in 1954.
