Creekmoor

The Creekmoor Light Railway was a small, privately run, 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge railway. It was situated off Creekmoor Lane, to the north of Poole, between Broadstone and Fleetsbridge, Dorset, and was operated by a group of local enthusiasts from October 1968, to April 1973.

Creekmoor was a halt on the former Southampton and Dorchester Railway opened by the Southern Railway for workers at the adjacent "Oerlikon" munitions factory, later run by Plesseys, now owned by Siemens. The halt was situated ¾ mile south of Broadstone, 1½ miles from Poole town centre and 116 miles 79 chains from London Waterloo. The original line had been opened on 2 December 1872 by the L&SWR, and had closed completely by 2 May 1977; the halt itself opened on 19 June 1933 and closed on 7 March 1966.

Holes Bay Nature Park is a protected area, 286 hectares in size, on and around Holes Bay, an embayment of Poole Harbour within the Borough of Poole that is important for wildlife, especially wetland birds. It was designated a nature park in March 2015.

Upton House is a country house in the grounds of Upton Country Park on the northwestern shoreline of Holes Bay in the county of Dorset on the south coast of England. It is owned by BCP Council.

Waterloo is a suburb of Poole, Dorset, England. Once a small village near Broadstone, Waterloo is now a large housing estate. The estate was built in the early 1950s and covers an area of 85 acres (0.34 km2).

Parkstone Grammar School (commonly abbreviated to "PGS") is a selective, all-girls academy school in Poole specializing in science and languages, on the southern coast of England.

Broadstone is a suburb of Poole in Dorset, England. It is located 3 miles (4.8 km) from Hamworthy railway station and 7 miles (11 km) from Bournemouth International Airport. The ward had a population of 10,303 at the 2011 Census, increasing from 10,256 at the 2001 Census. Since 1840, Broadstone has grown from a small farm to a suburb of 10,000 people. Centred on the main road (the B3074), 'The Broadway' is a busy hub of shops, churches, schools and housing. The shops consist of Costa Coffee, Bennett's Bakery, charity shops, a Tesco Express store, a Marks & Spencer supermarket and a jewellery shop. Broadstone is notable for its large recreation fields and heathland park, as well as an annual Christmas parade and lights. The 24-acre (0.097 km2) Broadstone Heath possesses some of the original heathland which covered the Poole Basin.

Fleetsbridge is a small area of Poole, Dorset, centred on a busy gyratory and flyover. It lies north of Poole town centre and borders the neighbouring suburbs of Waterloo, Creekmoor, Oakdale and Canford Heath. The use of land varies between residential, retail and some light industry. The area is also home to Parkstone Grammar School when it moved there from Lower Parkstone in 1962. The site of the Tesco at Fleets Corner was, up until the 1980s, the home of Hamworthy Recreation Football Club before the land was sold and the club moved to Canford Magna on the northern extreme of the Borough of Poole. Opposite to Tesco, across Waterloo Road, is the home of the headquarters of the global company, Hamworthy Combustion Engineering. Fleets Industrial Estate lies to the south of the gyratory off Fleets Lane and is adjacent to Wessex Gate Retail Park, which has large retail outlets such as DFS, Currys and PC World.

Upton Heath is one of the largest remaining fragments of a heath that once stretched across central southern England from Dorchester to Christchurch and beyond. Today it is confined to an area immediately west of Upton and Poole, much of which is protected. From the Heath there are views across Poole Harbour, Corfe Castle and the Isle of Purbeck.
