Abzac (French pronunciation: [abzak]; Azac in Limousin dialect) is a commune in the Charente department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of southwestern France.

Lessac (French pronunciation: [lesak]) is a commune in the Charente department in southwestern France. About three kilometers north of the town center is the Domaine de Boisbuchet with the Château de Boisbuchet, built in 1865 on a hill above the Vienne. The castle and the approximately 150 hectare estate were bought in 1989 by the German art collector Alexander von Vegesack, curator and director of the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, to use it during the summer months for workshops for artists, designers, architects and students. The Vienne forms most of the commune's eastern border.

Épenède, of which the Latin spina would mean thorn shrub, is bordered to the north by the department of Vienne and to the southwest by the valley of the river Transon. The village is situated on the dividing line of the waters of the Charente and the Vienne. The parish of Épenède was a dependant of the vast domains of the Benedictine abbey at nearby Charroux and in the diocese of Poitiers.
