Plailly

Mortefontaine is a commune in the Oise department in northern France. The castle of Mortefontaine was bought by Joseph Bonaparte, elder brother of Napoléon Bonaparte, in 1798. The Convention of 1800 (also known as the Treaty of Mortefontaine), a treaty of friendship between France and the United States of America was signed in the castle of Mortefontaine. The preliminaries of the 1802 Peace of Amiens were also negotiated at the castle.

Tonnerre Deux Zeus (formerly known as Tonnerre de Zeus, commonly stylized as Tonnerre 2 Zeus) is a wooden roller coaster located at Parc Astérix in Plailly, France. Opened in 1997 and built by Custom Coasters International, it is currently the 3rd longest wooden coaster in Europe, after Colossos and Coaster Express (Parque Warner Madrid). Between 2019 and 2022, the coaster underwent a three-year renovation from The Gravity Group, eventually re-emerging as the Tonnerre 2 Zeus in 2022. "Tonnerre de Zeus" is French for "Thunder of Zeus." In Greek mythology, Zeus was regarded as the king of gods. He also is often associated as being a weather god, hurling a thunderbolt at those who displeased him. A large statue of Zeus is featured at the entrance to the ride's queue line, which extends through a neighboring wooded areas, then follows the ride's final helix and the brake run before heading towards the station itself: a massive Greek temple allowing for a quick passenger load and unload.

Goudurix is a steel roller coaster located in Parc Astérix in France. The Vekoma-built ride jointly held the European record for the greatest number of inversions upon its opening in 1989. The record was lost in 1995 to Dragon Khan in Spain. It is one of only two coasters in the world to feature a butterfly element (the other being Blue Hawk at Six Flags Over Georgia). In 2007, following the release of the animated movie Asterix and the Vikings, Viking theming was added to the station and nearby rides, in the form of a wooden Viking longboat. Goudurix is located in the back-west of the park (southeast geographically, since park entrance faces south), near the Tonnerre 2 Zeus. The ride was repainted to a yellow and red track with grey supports color scheme from its previous white and yellow track with blue supports. It is one of the park's main attractions, along with the Tonnerre 2 Zeus, OzIris, Trace du Hourra and Toutatis rollercoasters. Previously known for its extraordinarily rough ride which was exacerbated by improperly-designed headrests and unnecessarily hard over-the-shoulder restraints, Goudurix was ranked as the worst steel roller coaster in the world in the 2012 Mitch Hawker Steel Coaster Poll. In response to this, it has seen numerous modifications, including new cars/trains and a complete re-tracking to improve the smoothness of the ride. Despite these upgrades, it remains a notably rough ride experience.

Pégase Express is a steel, family launched roller coaster at Parc Astérix in Plailly, France. The coaster opened to the public on June 11, 2017. It travels both forwards and backwards throughout the layout.

Parc Astérix is a theme park in France based on the comic book series Asterix by Albert Uderzo and René Goscinny. In 2023, the park welcomed over 2.8 million visitors, making it the 2nd most visited park in France behind Disneyland Paris and the 8th most visited park in Europe. It is especially renowned in France for its large variety of roller coasters, which exceeds the amount of most other parks in mainland France. Park Astérix has begun incorporating rides and themes from historic cultures like the Gauls, the Romans, Ancient Greece and recently Ancient Egypt, but always in the visual style of the related comic books, and most usually reusing characters, scenes and sounds from the Astérix media. The park is located approximately 35 km (22 mi) north of Paris, 32 km (20 mi) from Disneyland Paris and 20 km (12 mi) from the historic Château de Chantilly, in the commune of Plailly, in the department of Oise. Opened in 1989, the park is operated by Compagnie des Alpes and located right by the A1 motorway (Paris ↔ Lille ↔ Brussels), having its own highway exit and interchange.

OzIris is a steel inverted roller coaster designed by Bolliger & Mabillard operating at Parc Astérix in France since 7 April 2012. It is only one of two Bolliger & Mabillard inverted coasters in France, the other being The Monster at Walygator Parc. It is named after the Character Iris from the French comic Asterix.
