Courchelettes (French pronunciation: [kuʁʃəlɛt]) is a commune of the Nord department in northern France.

The Bibliothèque municipale de Douai, now Bibliothèque Marceline Desbordes-Valmore (after the Douai-born poet Marceline Desbordes-Valmore) is a library in Douai, France. Founded in 1767, it was bombed on August 11, 1944. The library reopened in 1955, in a new building designed by the architect Maurice Coasnes.The special collections ("réserve patrimoniale") include 607 medieval manuscripts (many of which were confiscated at the suppression of Anchin Abbey and Marchiennes Abbey during the French Revolution), over 300 incunables, a considerable number of works printed in Douai on hand-operated presses from 1569 onwards, and the literary remains (letters and manuscripts) of Marceline Desbordes-Valmore (1786-1859).

Corbehem (West Flemish: Corbeham) is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France.

The Canal de la Sensée (French pronunciation: [kanal də la sɑ̃se]) is a canal in northern France. The project was developed under Napoleon. In March 1806, the imperial government gave orders to build a canal which would link the Scarpe River and the Escaut River (English: Scheldt). The work was commenced under the direction of Augustin Honnorez in June 1819 and the Sensée canal was opened to navigation in November 1820. At that time the boats were pulled by men or horses working for boat employers. Shortly after World War I 1914-1918, horses were replaced by tractors. The Canal de la Sensée forms part of the Canal Dunkerque-Escaut route.

Douaisis Agglo (before 2019: Communauté d'agglomération du Douaisis) is the communauté d'agglomération, an intercommunal structure, centred on the city of Douai. It is located in the Nord department, in the Hauts-de-France region, northern France. It was created in January 2014. Its seat is in Douai. Its area is 235.7 km2. Its population was 148,784 in 2019, of which 39,613 in Douai proper.

The arrondissement of Douai (West Flemish: Dowaai) is an arrondissement of France in the Nord department in the Hauts-de-France region. It has 64 communes. Its population is 245,280 (2016), and its area is 476.6 km2 (184.0 sq mi).

Located on the river Scarpe some 40 kilometres (25 miles) from Lille and 25 km (16 mi) from Arras, Douai is home to one of the region's most impressive belfries.

IMT Nord Europe or École nationale supérieure Mines-Télécom Lille Douai is a French graduate school of engineering (grande école d'ingénieurs). It is located in the Hauts-de-France region, shared between 2 campuses: the science campus (cité scientifique) of the University of Lille (Villeneuve-d'Ascq, European Metropolis of Lille); and the city of Douai. It is accredited by the Commission des Titres d'Ingénieur (CTI) to deliver the French Diplôme d'Ingénieur. The school trains high-level engineers and scientists (Master and PhD level) in various technological fields. A small number of students are accepted each year, after a very selective exam. It is a crucial part of the infrastructure of French industry. It is affiliated to University of Lille and Institut Mines-Télécom (Mines-Télécom Institut of Technology - IMT). The École des Mines de Douai merged with TELECOM Lille in 2017 to become the largest engineering school in France north of Paris under the name IMT Lille Douai, then IMT Nord Europe.

The Musée de la Chartreuse is an art museum in a former Carthusian monastery in Douai, France. It is the 'musée des Beaux-Arts' for the city.

The Hôpital-Général de Douai was set up in 1752 in the French city of Douai. The hospital is an important healthcare establishment in the Douaisis area . It carries out its public hospital service missions covering 64 municipalities with a population of nearly 260,000 inhabitants. It has a capacity of 874 beds and 50,000 people get treatment at the hospital every year. It is also a major employer in the region, employing 2,300 people.

The Institution Saint-Jean de Douai located in Douai (Hauts-de-France), is a private educational establishment under an association contract with the State. It welcomes 2,000 pupils from kindergarten to preparatory classes. It sits on the site of the former English College at Douai, a defunct Catholic seminary. The Institution Saint-Jean was created in 1854 during the installation of a diocesan college in the rue Saint-Jean in Douai. The Institution's buildings were used as a military hospital by the German army from 1914 to 1918. The Institution was bombed and destroyed in 1940 and 1944. Reconstruction ended in 1958.Preparatory classes was created in 1988 by Christophe Cadet, a former history and geography teacher at Saint-Jean. They prepare for the entrance examination for business schools (HEC, ESSEC, ESCP, EM Lyon, EDHEC, Audencia, etc.) by competing with the major Parisian high schools such as Henri-IV, Louis-le-Grand and "Ginette".
