Langley School, Loddon

Langley Hall is a red-brick building in the Palladian style, formerly a country house but now a private school, located near Loddon, Norfolk, England. It is a grade I listed building.The house was built in the Palladian style of nearby Holkham Hall, though much smaller: a large principal central block linked to two flanking secondary wings by short corridors. It was later enlarged with the addition of corner turrets by George Proctor and wings by Sir William Beauchamp-Proctor, and addition of a Doric portico in the 19th century. The interior of the Hall boasts fine plaster decorations in the library attributed to the court sculptor of Frederick V of Denmark, Charles Stanley. The fine ceiling in the ladies' boudoir, on 'Music and Entertainment', was painted by Andien de Clermont prior to his return to France in 1755. The Hall was originally built c.1730 for Richard Berney, on 25 hectares (60 acres) of land that until the Dissolution of the Monasteries belonged to Langley Abbey. It was sold a few years later to George Proctor, who commissioned Matthew Brettingham to remodel the building. In 1744, the estate was inherited by Proctor's nephew, William Beauchamp who, in compliance with his uncle's will, changed his name to Beauchamp-Proctor and who was created a baronet the following year. The family later changed their name to Proctor-Beauchamp. He completed the building work and employed Lancelot Brown to advise on the landscaping. In 1785 new entrance lodges were built to the design of architect John Soane. The estate remained in the Proctor-Beauchamp family until the 20th century. During the second world war the house was occupied by the army and the pasture land ploughed. After the war the house and grounds were bought by Langley School, an independent boarding and day school, and the lodges separately sold.

Norwich High School for Boys was an independent school in Norwich, England. Founded in 1910, it became the Langley School shortly after World War II.

The A146 is an A road that connects Norwich in Norfolk and Lowestoft in Suffolk, two of East Anglia's largest population centres. It is around 27 miles (43 km) in length and has primary classification along its entire route. It is mainly single carriageway throughout its route, with the exception of a section of dual carriageway on the southern edge of Norwich.

Langley with Hardley is a parish in the county of Norfolk, England, about a mile east of Loddon. It covers an area of 15.09 km2 (5.83 sq mi) and had a population of 489 in 161 households at the 2001 census, reducing marginally to 488 at the 2011 Census.The church of Hardley, St Margaret, is one of 124 existing round-tower churches in Norfolk. Langley Abbey in the parish is now a museum which can be visited. Langely Dike and Hardley Dike on the River Yare are both part of the Norfolk Broads waterways, however offering only private moorings.

Carleton St Peter is a hamlet and civil parish in South Norfolk approximately 8+1⁄2 miles (13.7 km) south-east of Norwich. There is no village centre but the church provides a reference point and is 1 mile (1.6 km) north-east of Thurton, and a similar distance south of Claxton, just east of Ashby St Mary. In the 2001 census Carleton St Peter contained just 15 households and a population of 29 spread across the 3.19 km2 (1.23 sq mi) of the parish. The church cannot be reached by road and sits in a small graveyard in the middle of a field reached by a short path between ploughed fields. The tower contains four bells but they cannot be rung.The parish extends northwards to include the Beauchamp Arms public house on the south bank of the River Yare and the nearby Buckenham Sailing Club. These lie at the end of Ferry Road although the ferry across to Buckenham on the north bank stopped running before World War II. Between Carleton St Peter and Claxton, on the banks of Carleton Beck, lies Ducan's Marsh, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and one of the richest areas of unimproved wet grassland in East Norfolk.

The Old Town Hall is a former events venue in Bridge Street, Loddon, Norfolk, England. The structure, which is currently occupied for commercial use, is a grade II listed building.

Chedgrave is a village and civil parish in English county of Norfolk. Chedgrave is separated from nearby Loddon by the River Chet.

Sisland, historically Sislanda, is a very small village, manor and parish in the county of Norfolk, England, about a mile west of Loddon. In the 2001 census, the population was 44 in 16 households. The parish covers an area of 1.90 km2 (0.73 sq mi), and is approximately 9.3 miles (15.0 km) southeast of Norwich and 12.7 miles (20.4 km) west of Great Yarmouth. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of South Norfolk, however Sisland does have its own Parish Council. The village contains only one heritage-listed building, that being St Mary's Church, which is Grade II*.

Hobart High School is a coeducational secondary school with academy status, situated in the village of Loddon, near Norwich in Norfolk, England. It typically has around 850 pupils. The school previously had specialist science college status before converting to academy status in February 2013.

Loddon is a town and civil parish in Norfolk, England, about 12 miles (19 km) south-east of Norwich. The town lies on the River Chet, a tributary of the River Yare within The Broads. The name "Loddon" is thought to mean muddy river in Celtic in reference to the Chet.

Ducan's Marsh is a 3.6-hectare (8.9-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-east of Loddon in Norfolk. It is part of the Broadland Ramsar site and Special Protection Area, and The Broads Special Area of Conservation.This unimproved area of wet grassland is in the valley of Carleton Beck, a small tributary of the River Yare. There are species rich fen and fen grassland communities in areas around springs on the side of the valley. The grassland is maintained by light summer grazing and it has a number of uncommon plants.The site is private land with no public access.

Loddon and Clavering Rural District was a rural district in Norfolk, England from 1894 to 1935., continuing, with very slight boundary changes, as Loddon Rural District until 1974.It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 based on the Loddon and Clavering rural sanitary district, and took its name from the ancient hundreds of Loddon and Clavering. It lay in the south-east corner of the county. In 1974, the district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972, and became part of the South Norfolk district.
