Bouchemaine (French pronunciation: [buʃmɛn] ) is a commune in the Maine-et-Loire department in western France.

The Maine (French pronunciation: [mɛːn] ) is a river, a tributary of the Loire, 11.5 km (7.1 mi) long, in the Maine-et-Loire département in France.It is formed by the confluence of the Mayenne and Sarthe rivers north of Angers. It flows through this city and joins the Loire southwest of Angers. The river's name is derived from the ancient Meodena, and is unrelated to Maine, the province.

The Authion is a 99.8 km (62.0 mi) long river in western France located in the departments of Indre-et-Loire (Centre-Val de Loire) and Maine-et-Loire (Pays de la Loire). It is a tributary of the river Loire on the right side. It flows into the Loire in Sainte-Gemmes-sur-Loire, near Angers. Its longest tributaries are the Lathan and the Couasnon. The largest towns on the Authion are Bourgueil, Mazé-Milon, Brain-sur-l'Authion, Trélazé and Les Ponts-de-Cé. Its basin area is 1,497 km2 (578 sq mi).

Angers is an L6 meteorite that hit Pays de la Loire, France in 1822. The meteor struck at 8:15 PM on 3 June. It has since been stored along with L'Aigle, another meteorite that struck France 19 years earlier, on 26 April 1803, in a room at the Muséum d’histoire naturelle d’Angers, a French natural history museum.

The Arboretum Gaston Allard (7 hectares), also known as the Arboretum d'Angers and formerly the Arboretum de la Maulévrie, is a municipal arboretum located at 9, rue du Château d'Orgement, Angers, Maine-et-Loire, Pays de la Loire, France. It is open daily. The arboretum was begun in 1863 by botanist Gaston Allard (1838-1918) within the closerie Maulévrie, which was then his home. He continued planting until his death in 1918. The property was ceded to the city in 1960, and his former home now houses the Botany Department of the Museum of Natural Sciences of Angers. Today the arboreum contains an excellent collection of trees: approximately 4,300 specimens represent 1,600 taxa, including 705 taxa of conifers and 50 of oaks, with notable specimens of Quercus variabilis, Pseudocydonia sinensis, and Tilia mongolica. In 1980 the arboretum was augmented with a national collection of hydrangeas, which now contains approximately 750 taxa. Three new gardens have been added: a shade garden (2000 m²), test garden (4000 m²), and garden of the five senses (1200 m²). All told these gardens contain about 20,000 plants. The arboretum also contains a major herbarium of more than 350,000 specimens dating from the 19th and 20th centuries.

École supérieure d'agricultures d'Angers (ESA Angers) a French engineering College created in 1898. The school trains engineers in agronomy and agriculture. Located in Angers, the ESA Angers is a private higher education institution of general interest recognised by the State. The school is a member of the Conférence des Grandes écoles.
