Maplehurst, West Sussex

Nuthurst is a village and civil parish in the Horsham district of West Sussex, England. The north of the parish borders Horsham town, with Nuthurst village 3 miles (5 km) south from the border. Within the parish is the estate and largely 19th-century country house of Sedgwick Park.

Sedgwick Castle is a ruined medieval castle in Nuthurst, West Sussex, England. The castle dates to 1258 AD. The remains consist of wall fragments and earthworks. The site also includes two concentric ditches, ponds, and an outer enclosure. S. E. Winbolt led excavations at the castle in 1923 and 1924. Sedgwick Castle was established as a scheduled monument in 1933.

West Grinstead was a railway station on the Steyning Line which served the village of West Grinstead. It had a goods yard with a cattle loading bay and facilities for handling horse boxes. With the hunt kennels and national stud based in the area, the station saw substantial horse traffic.The station closed as a result of the Beeching Axe in 1966 and now forms part of the Downs Link footpath. The main station building and station worker's cottages, although now privately owned, remain, as do the station platforms. The local parish council have erected a replica station sign in the vicinity, and an old railway signal has also been installed. A British Railways Mark 1 coach has also been placed on rails in the former goods yard.

Southwater & Nuthurst is an electoral division of West Sussex in the United Kingdom and returns one member to sit on West Sussex County Council. The current County Councillor, Brad Watson, is also Cabinet Member for Communications.

Copsale is a hamlet in the civil parish of Nuthurst, and the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. It lies on the Southwater to Maplehurst road 3.5 miles (6 km) south of Horsham.

Monk's Gate is a hamlet in the civil parish of Nuthurst, in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. It lies on the A281 road 3 miles (5 km) southeast from Horsham.

The Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation or Church of Our Lady of Consolation and Saint Francis is a Roman Catholic parish church in West Grinstead, in West Sussex. It was built from 1875 to 1876, with additions made to the church in 1896 and 1964. The church was designed by John A. Crawley and the 1896 additions was designed by Frederick Walters. It is situated on the corner of Steyning Road and Park Lane to the east of the A24 road. It is a Gothic Revival style church and a Grade II listed building.The shrine is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary under the venerated title and enshrined image of Our Lady of Consolation, which merited a Pontifical decree of coronation from Pope Leo XIII on 12 July 1893.

Littleworth is a hamlet in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. It lies on the Partridge Green to Maplehurst road 2.9 miles (4.7 km) north of Henfield.

Cowfold is a village and civil parish between Billingshurst and Haywards Heath in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. The village is at the intersection of the A272 and A281 roads. The parish has a land area of 1,926 hectares (4,760 acres). In the 2001 census 1,864 people lived in 729 households, of whom 987 were economically active. The population at the 2011 Census had risen to 1,904.The village has a shop, café, Indian restaurant, beauty salon, hairdressers, barbers, VW motor service centre and lawn-mower shop. The 'Hare and Hounds' pub is also to the south of the village. The thirteenth-century Anglican parish church is dedicated to Saint Peter. At Parkminster, formerly Picknoll Farm, is St. Hugh's Charterhouse, Parkminster, the only post-Reformation Carthusian monastery in the United Kingdom. An Éolienne Bollée there has been restored.The village has Scout groups and Guide groups, which meet in the local scout hut on the playing field.

Horsham () is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament, centred on the eponymous town in West Sussex, its former rural district and part of another rural district. Its Member of Parliament (MP) was Francis Maude between 1997 and 2015; followed by Jeremy Quin, both of the Conservative Party, until 2024 when the seat was won from the Conservative MP Quin by John Milne of the Liberal Democrats, making it the first time since 1876 that a non-Conservative Party candidate won the seat.

St Hugh's Charterhouse, Parkminster, is the only post-Reformation Carthusian monastery in the United Kingdom. It is located in the parish of Cowfold, West Sussex, England. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Mannings Heath is a village in the civil parish of Nuthurst and the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. The village is on the A281 road, 2 miles (3 km) south-east from the town of Horsham. Mannings Heath is the largest settlement in Nuthurst, and largely a dormitory for Horsham. Mannings Heath has an Anglican church dedicated to The Good Shepherd, built in 1881, a village hall, a village green incorporating Nuthurst Cricket Club's cricket ground, a riding school, and a golf course – Mannings Heath Golf Club, which is in both Nuthurst and the neighbouring parish of Lower Beeding. The village, previously a hamlet set around two roads, with 20 houses in 1794 and 40 in 1841, experienced a period of council and private house expansion and infill after 1945. A History of the County of Sussex commented in 1987 that roads and houses had been "built with a variety of design that largely preserved the original character of the hamlet". The West Sussex Gazette reported that 350-400 houses had been built by 1979. Two buildings, possibly 17th century, and a small number dating to 18th century remain. The village pub, the Dun Horse Inn, closed several years ago.
