Turkey Creek (Indian River tributary)

Palm Bay is a bay located in Palm Bay, Florida, United States and is bordered to the south by the Palm Bay Pointe peninsula. It is an estuary of Indian River, and Turkey Creek drains into Palm Bay. Pioneers initially settled in Palm Bay as they moved into the area in the late 19th century. The city of Palm Bay received its name from this bay.

The Turkey Creek Sanctuary is a small nature reserve in Palm Bay in Brevard County, Florida, and incorporates salty hammock and sand pine ridge habitats. It has 1.85 miles (3 km) of boardwalk paths and 1.5 miles (2.4 km) of jogging trails through native forest to Turkey Creek, an excellent site for seeing birds, turtles, manatees, alligators as well as other local wildlife. The creek is an important breeding ground for both salt and fresh water fish and is accessible via a canoe deck. The Sanctuary is part of the East Florida section of the Great Florida Birding Trail.The property was donated to the Florida Audubon Society and the city of Palm Bay in 1978, and fundraising to conserve the area began in 1981. By 1994 113 acres (46 ha) were protected by the voluntary management committee. The park is open daily, from 7am to sunset. It occasionally is threatened by environmental concerns. Heavy rains in September 2014 caused partially treated wastewater to spill into Turkey Creek.The Margaret Hames Nature Center was opened in 1992 and offers environmental education programs, including nature day camps.

The Melbourne Beach Pier is a historic pier in Melbourne Beach, Florida, United States. It is located at Ocean Avenue and Riverside Drive and the pier extends onto the Indian River. The Melbourne and Atlantic Railroad Company built the pier in 1889. On April 12, 1984, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Ryckman Park is a public park located on Ocean Avenue in Melbourne Beach, Florida on the Indian River in the historic section of town. The park is in the historic section of Melbourne Beach and contains the Town Hall, the Melbourne Beach Community Center (formerly the Women's Club), a playground, several gazebos and the Melbourne Beach Pier. The former Villa Marine Hotel, built in 1912, is across the street and the Community Chapel of Melbourne Beach is nearby.

The Community Chapel of Melbourne Beach is a historic chapel at 501 Ocean Avenue, Melbourne Beach, Florida, United States. The local residents built the chapel in 1892 & made it non-denominational, which it remains today. On May 14, 1992, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Ponce de León Island was a proposed name for the 45 miles (72 km) long, barrier island stretching from Cape Canaveral to Sebastian Inlet in Brevard County in central Florida, located on the Atlantic Ocean. The population was 67,933 at the 2010 United States Census. The barrier island is 21.4 square miles (55 km2). Another proposed name for this area was Ais Island after the native Ais people who originally inhabited the area. Currently, the island has not yet been designated any official name.
