Altcar Rifle Range railway station

Altcar Training Camp is located in Hightown, Merseyside, England. The 620-acre (250 ha) estate is composed of beaches, marshland, fields and small woods. The range is run by the North West Reserve Forces & Cadets Association.

There is a pumping station on the River Alt at Altmouth, built 1972, as part of a programme to alleviate flooding in the area. This is on the Altcar Rifle Range, a Territorial Army base originally established in 1860 by Lt. Col. Range High School is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Formby, Merseyside, England. It was built during the early 1970s after a contracted period of delays and was necessary due to the increasing overcrowding at nearby Formby High School. The local primary schools St. Luke's and Woodlands act as feeder schools to Range High. The school is one of the few schools in the country to have received five consecutive 'outstanding' ratings from OFSTED. In 2016, the school was one of only three schools in the area to achieve a positive Progress 8 score on the new national school performance measures, while the 2019 was the highest of any 11-18 secondary school in Sefton. The school received a disappointing Ofsted judgement in 2018 having had five previous consecutive outstanding judgements.

Formby is a town and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, Merseyside, England, which had a population of 57,098 at the 2023 Census.Historically in Lancashire, three manors are recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 under "Fornebei", Halsall, Walton and Poynton. Cockle raking and shrimp fishing lasted into the 19th century. By 1872, the township and sub-district was made up of two chapelries (St Peter's and St Luke's), Birkdale township, the hamlets of Ainsdale and Raven-Meols and Altcar parish. Formby was built on the plain adjoining the Irish Sea coast a few miles north of the Crosby channel.A commuter town for Liverpool, Formby is also a tourist destination with day trippers attracted to its beaches, sand dunes and wildlife, particularly the endangered red squirrel and natterjack toad. The area is conserved by the National Trust, and designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
