James Peak is a high mountain summit in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The 13,294 foot thirteener is located on the Continental Divide in the James Peak Wilderness of Arapaho National Forest and Roosevelt National Forest, 5.2 miles (8.4 km) east-southeast (bearing 110°) of the Town of Winter Park, Colorado, United States. The summit is the tripoint of Clear Creek, Gilpin, and Grand counties. The peak is the highest point in Gilpin County and the second-highest in the James Peak Wilderness.James Peak is named after Edwin James, the botanist on Major Stephen H. Long's expedition of 1820. James is the first known person to successfully climb Pikes Peak.James Peak has a broad south slope that is very popular with hikers. The steep, sheer walls of the east face offer multiple technical couloirs for snow climbers, skiers, and snowboarders. From south to north, these routes are named 'Bailout', 'Starlight', 'Sky Pilot', 'Shooting Star', and 'Superstar'.

The James Peak Wilderness is a U.S. Wilderness Area in north central Colorado in the Arapaho and Roosevelt national forests. The wilderness area borders Indian Peaks Wilderness to the north and the James Peak Protection Area to the west.

Mount Bancroft is a 13,250 feet (4,040 m) peak in Grand and Clear Creek counties. It is located west of the town of Empire, within a group of mountain peaks called the James Group that also includes Mount Flora, Mount Eva, Parry Peak, James Peak, and Colorado Mines Peak.Mount Bancroft is named for Dr. Frederick J. Bancroft, who is noted for his work in public health and the state's history. The summit was named for the doctor at the request of his son, George Jarvis Bancroft (1873-1945). The decision by the United States Geological Survey to name the summit Mount Bancroft was made on March 7, 1906. Below the summit is Lake Caroline, named for his granddaughter, Caroline Bancroft.

Parry Peak, elevation 13,397 ft (4,083 m), is a summit in the Front Range of central Colorado. The peak is on the continental divide southeast of Winter Park in the Arapahoe National Forest. The name honors Charles Christopher Parry, a botanist who made extensive studies of the Colorado mountain flora in the 1860s. It is one of the 637 thirteeners (peaks over 13,000 ft elevation) in the state of Colorado and lies along the Continental Divide Trail. Parry Peak is also the highest peak of the James Group of the Front Range of Colorado.

Silver Creek is a mining ghost town in Clear Creek County, Colorado, United States. The town never had a post office of its own, but received its mail via the Lawson post office. The town is only accessible via unimproved road. Most of the mines were located upstream from the town.

The historic Town of Empire is a Statutory Town located in Clear Creek County, Colorado, United States. The town population was 345 at the 2020 United States Census, a +22.34% increase since the 2010 United States Census. The town is a former mining settlement that flourished during the Colorado Silver Boom in the late 19th century. Empire is now a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Front Range Urban Corridor. It is located in the valley of Clear Creek west of Denver, on the north side of the valley. The town consists of several commercial establishments and residents. U.S. Highway 40 passes through the town as its ascends towards Berthoud Pass, putting the town on the direct route between Denver and Middle Park.
