Linton, West Yorkshire

Linton Bridge carries the minor road that links Collingham and Linton over the River Wharfe near Wetherby in West Yorkshire, England. The Grade II listed bridge was built out of rock-faced stone in the early to mid-19th century. Its parapet, terminating in square piers, was renewed later that century. It has three basket arches and rounded cutwaters.The bridge was closed on 27 December 2015 after flood water, in the aftermath of Storm Eva, caused a pier to settle, cracking the carriageway and damaging its parapet. The closest road bridge linking the villages is Wetherby Bridge. The bridge reopened on 2 September 2017 after repairs costing £5.1 million. It was one of more than 100 bridges that were damaged in the aftermath of the storm.

Collingham Bridge railway station was a railway station serving the villages of Collingham and Linton in West Yorkshire, England. The station opened on 1 May 1876, and closed on 6 January 1964. The station's coal yard is now a car park for the River Wharfe with the location for the original station much further to the South West, aligning with the current Linton Road.

Collingham is a village and civil parish 2 miles (3 km) south-west of Wetherby in West Yorkshire, England. It is in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough. The population of the civil parish as of the 2011 census was 2,991.It sits in the Harewood ward of Leeds City Council and Elmet and Rothwell parliamentary constituency. The River Wharfe runs through the village towards Wetherby, as does the main A58 trans-Pennine road. The A659 passes through the village. The River Wharfe is dangerous at Collingham due to undercurrents, which are prevalent around Linton Bridge and the former viaduct. Collingham Beck burst its banks in 2007, causing extensive flooding. The village public house, known as Cromwells, is said to be where Oliver Cromwell spent the night after the Battle of Marston Moor. The clergyman, the Reverend William Mompesson was born there in 1639.

Collingham and Linton Cricket Club is a cricket ground in Collingham, West Yorkshire. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1896. In 1986 the club hosted the first Women's Test between England women and India women. The following year the ground hosted its second and final Women's Test between England women and Australia women. In 1993, the ground held a Women's One Day International between England women and Australia women in the 1993 Women's Cricket World Cup.In local domestic cricket, the ground is the home venue of Collingham and Linton Cricket Club.

Wetherby railway station was built on the North Eastern Railway's Cross Gates to Wetherby Line on Linton Road. It replaced an earlier station on York Road which had opened on 1 May 1876.After the construction of a double track line to allow through trains from Leeds to Harrogate via Wetherby, York Road station closed and Wetherby's new station opened in 1902. It closed to passenger traffic on 6 January 1964 and to goods on 4 April 1966 under the Beeching axe.

Wetherby Ings are water meadows, by the River Wharfe now used as parkland in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, England. Micklethwaite is an area of Wetherby on the south bank of the River Wharfe in West Yorkshire, England. It is in the City of Leeds metropolitan borough. It was once a separate village but has been incorporated into Wetherby. In 2004 150 houses were constructed on Micklethwaite Farm. It is the location of Wetherby's police station, the former magistrates' court, the leisure centre, Wetherby Athletic Football Club and a Mercure Hotel. Micklethwaite had a public house, the Drover Inn which is now a private residence. With the advent of the railway, cattle were no longer driven over the bridge and the pub changed its name to the Spotted Ox. A barracks was built in 1825 to house the Yorkshire Hussars in case of civil disturbances anticipated in Leeds at the time of the Chartists.Micklethwaite is considered an upmarket area. Any part of Wetherby south of the River Wharfe is Micklethwaite.

Tempo FM is the local community radio station for Wetherby, Boston Spa, as well as the surrounding villages in the West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire areas. The radio station mainly plays easy listening music and is run entirely by volunteers as a "Not for Profit" company.
