Micklethwaite, Wetherby

Wetherby Bridge is a scheduled monument and Grade II-listed bridge over the River Wharfe in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, dating from the 13th century. The bridge connects Micklethwaite on the south bank to the town centre on the north. It formerly carried the A1 Great North Road but now carries the A661 Boston Road leading to Boston Spa and the south.

Wetherby () is a market town and civil parish in the City of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The town stands on the River Wharfe, and for centuries has been a crossing place and staging post on the Great North Road midway between London and Edinburgh. Wetherby Bridge, which spans the River Wharfe, is a Scheduled Ancient Monument and a Grade II listed structure. The course of the Old Great North Road passes through the town and, as result of its situation on the road, as well as being a major cattle droving route from Scotland to London, many coaching inns were established in Wetherby which are still used by travellers today. The town sits in the Wetherby ward of Leeds City Council and Elmet and Rothwell parliamentary constituency. It was listed in the 2018 Sunday Times report on Best Places to Live in northern England.

Wetherby was a rural district in the West Riding of Yorkshire from 1894 to 1974. It was named after the town of Wetherby. It was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, and split between two new districts. The parishes of Bardsey cum Rigton, Boston Spa, Bramham cum Oglethorpe, Clifford, Collingham, East Keswick, Harewood, Scarcroft, Thorner, Thorp Arch, Walton, Wetherby and Wothersome went to the City of Leeds metropolitan borough in West Yorkshire, with the rest becoming part of the borough of Harrogate in North Yorkshire.

Wetherby Preceptory was a medieval monastic house in Wetherby, West Yorkshire, England. The estate at Wetherby was given to the Templars around 1240 and was held by them until they were suppressed in 1308. Thereafter it was held by the Knights Hospitaller until 1538.
