Broadwell, Forest of Dean

Mile End is a small village in the English county of Gloucestershire. It belongs to the civil parish of Coleford, which is also its post town. Mile End is 1 mile (1.6 km) northeast of Coleford. The village lies at the western edge of the Forest of Dean. The village merges with the village of Broadwell to the south.

Coalway is a village in the West Forest of Dean region of Gloucestershire, England, approximately one mile south-east of the town of Coleford. Within the civil parish of Coleford, the village is just south of the village of Broadwell.

St Briavels was an ancient hundred of Gloucestershire, England. It comprised the extra-parochial area of the Forest of Dean, and the ancient parishes of Abenhall English Bicknor St Briavels Littledean Flaxley Hewelsfield Mitcheldean Newland Ruardean Staunton Lea (part)The hundred was created at some time between 1086 and 1220 to provide a structure for the administration of the Forest of Dean. The meeting place was St Briavels Castle.

Wimberry Quarries (grid reference SO594121) is a 2-hectare (4.9-acre) nature reserve in Gloucestershire in the Forest of Dean.The site is held under agreement with the Forestry Commission. The site is listed in the 'Forest of Dean Local Plan Review' as a Key Wildlife Site (KWS).

Oakiron railway station is the terminus of the 15 in (381 mm) gauge Perrygrove Railway. The line was opened in 1996 and is now open as a heritage railway, passenger trains run round the train via the loop to couple on with the train back down to Perrygrove Station. The station consists of a small waiting shelter, a low platform, a loop and sidings. There are two footpaths from the station into the woods around the line. The line to Oakiron Quarry was near the site of today's sidings, the quarry line closed long before the railway.

Royal Forest of Dean College was a college of further education located close to the town of Coleford, in the Forest of Dean in west Gloucestershire. It was dissolved by government order as of 31 January 2011 in order to be merged to Gloucestershire College. Together with its secondary site at Mitcheldean, and around 30 further outreach sites, the college served a mainly rural area. The college offered a range of courses from A-levels and was associated with University of Gloucestershire for higher education to Master's degrees.

Five Acres High School, formerly Lakers School, is an academy in Coleford, Gloucestershire. Simon Phelps is the Headteacher, Five Acres is an Academy which is sponsored by the Greenshaw Learning Trust. Lakers School, which opened in 1985, closed on 31 August 2017. Lakers was converted to and became Five Acres High School. Five Acres opened on 1 September 2017. The reason for Lakers converting to an academy was because the School had been in Special Measures since January 2016, following the publication of a critical Ofstedinspection report, which branded every section in the report as inadequate subsequently meaning the school's overall effectiveness was also inadequate.A year or so after the report was published the Regional Schools Commissioner gave Lakers confirmation that the Greenshaw Learning Trust was the preferred sponsor of the school and following consultation and talks it was announced the trust would take over in September.

Gorsty Knoll is a small hamlet, located in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, England. The internationally important remains of Darkhill Ironworks and the Titanic Steelworks, are located on the edge of the hamlet. Gorsty Knoll is also famed for its glow worms.

Milkwall railway station is a disused station on the former Severn and Wye Railway. It served the village of Milkwall, Gloucestershire, England. The station opened in 1875 and was closed only in 1929 due to lack of passenger use. The line remained in use for goods traffic until the line was closed from Parkend to Coleford. Today the site of the station is now occupied by an engineering company and the trackbed is now a cycle track from Coleford to Parkend.

Spion Kop Quarry (grid reference SO598103) is a 0.7-hectare (1.7-acre) nature reserve in Gloucestershire in the Forest of Dean.The site is managed by the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and held under agreement with the Forestry Commission. The site is listed in the 'Forest of Dean Local Plan Review' as a Key Wildlife Site (KWS).

Coleford Great Western Railway Museum is a railway museum located in Coleford, Gloucestershire, England. The museum was founded in 1988. Based in the former GWR Goods Shed along the Coleford Railway. There was also another station situated at Coleford, it was opened by the Severn and Wye Railway. The Museum traces the history of all the railways in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire from the early 19th century when the first plateways were laid, to the 1970s when the Dean Forest Railway was founded. The Museum has information about the Wye Valley Railway, Severn & Wye Railway and Monmouth Troy railway station. It consists of the former goods shed, a GWR signal box, a miniature railway, and a short stretch of track on which a Peckett 0-4-0ST locomotive, no. 1893, stands with ex-GWR rolling stock.

Coleford (Severn and Wye) railway station is one of two former stations that served the town of Coleford, Gloucestershire, England. The station was the northern terminus of the former Severn and Wye Railway. The station opened in 1879 and was closed in 1924 to passengers due to lack of passenger use. The line remained in use for goods traffic until the line was closed from Whitecliff Quarry to Coleford in 1967. Traces of the station have vanished under a car park but the trackbed is now a cycle track from Coleford to Parkend. The former Great Western Railway station has also vanished under a car park but the former goods shed now hosts a railway museum dedicated to the former railway lines around Coleford and the wider Forest of Dean.
