Snowdon Hill Quarry (grid reference ST312089) is a 0.6 hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest on the western outskirts of Chard in Somerset, notified in 1963. The site shows rock exposures through the Upper Greensand and Chalk which contain fossil crustaceans which are both unique and exceptionally well-preserved and support study of palaeontology in Britain. The unit has been dated to the subdivision of the Chalk known as the Turrilites acutus Zone, named after one of the characteristic fossils.

The Church of St Andrew in Whitestaunton, Somerset, England, dates from the 13th century and has been designated as a Grade I listed building.The Perpendicular church is built of Hamstone. It contains a nave and porch which were added in the late 14th century and in the late 15th century it was refenestrated and the north and south chapels added. In the early 16th century the tower and chancel arch were rebuilt, the south chapel widened and the west door added. Further restoration followed in 1882-3 and 1913.The interior includes a Norman font.In 2012 an appeal was launched to repair the bellframe in the tower.

The parish, which includes Wadeford and Scrapton, has a population of 1,373.

The Church of St Nicholas in Combe St Nicholas, Somerset, England is Norman in origin, with the chancel and lower stage of the tower dating from the 13th century. It was enlarged and aisles added in the 15th century, with further restoration in 1836. It has been designated as a grade I listed building.There was a church on the site from the Norman Conquest and possibly earlier. The church was dedicated by the Bishop of Waterford with Bishop Jocelin of Wells in 1170.The Hamstone nave has five bays and holds the font which may have survived from the pre Norman era. The 15th century aisles include a piscina and another font. The carved rood screen dates from around 1470. Beneath the chancel are three vaults which were discovered in 1971. The tower has six bells and a clock dating from 1845. It has battlements, corner pinnacles and gargoyles.The parish is part of the benefice of Chard, St. Mary with Combe St Nicholas, Wambrook and Whitestaunton within the deanery of Crewkerne and Ilminster.

Whitestaunton Manor in the village of Whitestaunton, Somerset, England was built in the 15th century as a Hall house and has been designated as a Grade I listed building. It consists of an east–west range with two wings which were added later.The first record of the house dates from 1479 with dendrochronology showing roof timbers dating from 1447 to 1492. It has been altered and expanded several times since, including a major expansion in the 1570s. The stables and coach house were built in the 16th century and are now Grade II listed.Excavations carried out in 1882, when the house was owned by Charles Elton, had identified a building, thought to be a Roman villa, which had been incorporated into the grounds, and designated as a Scheduled monument. In 2003, archaeological television programme Time Team carried out an excavation in the grounds, which discovered a Roman bath house.During restoration work, between 2000 and 2011, a Hammerbeam roof was discovered above a Georgian ceiling. The roof dated from 1446 to 1478. It had been damaged by Death watch beetle. The work received an award for the work from the Wood Awards in 2008. Wooden panelling had also been damaged by Death watch and Common furniture beetle. It was removed and restored.

Chardstock is a village and civil parish located on the eastern border of Devon, England off the A358 road between Chard and Axminster. The parish population at the 2011 Census was 828. The parish also contains the hamlets of Bewley Down, Birchill, Burridge, Holy City and Tytherleigh. The parish is a major part of the electoral ward of Yarty. The ward population at the above census was 2,361.The parish was in Dorset until 1896. Historically it formed part of Beaminster Forum and Redhone Hundred. The attractive village is surrounded by farmland and woodland and is within the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The River Kit runs through the village. The village church dates from the 19th Century. The village also has a post office and pub (currently closed). The collection of work by Artist Kenneth Butler Evans, cousin of poet William Butler Yeats, is based in the village at the home of his widow, sculptor Ann Ford.

Chard Town Football Club is a football club based in Chard, Somerset, England. Affiliated to the Somerset County FA, they are currently members of the Somerset County League Premier Division and play at Dening Sports Fields.
