Knesebeck

Wittingen (German pronunciation: [ˈvɪ.tɪŋ.ən]) is a town in the district of Gifhorn, Lower Saxony, Germany. It is about 30 kilometres (19 mi) northeast of Gifhorn, and 30 kilometres (19 mi) southeast of Uelzen.

The village of Kakerbeck lies in the north German state of Lower Saxony in the district of Gifhorn. It is a village in the town of Wittingen. Kakerbeck is a rundling village originally probably five farmsteads. Around 100 people live in Kakerbeck today in 29 houses.

Isenhagen Abbey (German: Kloster Isenhagen) is a convent in Hankensbüttel in the district of Gifhorn in the German state of Lower Saxony. It was a nunnery founded by the Cistercian order but is now a Lutheran women's convent. It is managed by the monastic chamber in Hanover.

The Hankensbüttel Otter Centre is a nature experience centre in Hankensbüttel, in the German district of Gifhorn, that is laid out in 6 hectares (15 acres) of open land by a lake known as the Isenhagener See. The Otter Centre showcases the European otter which is a species threatened by extinction, as well as several related species of marten, in a natural environment. The centre is run by the Aktion Fischotterschutz ("Otter Conservation Project"), a state-recognised nature conservation organisation, and is a popular tourist and visitor destination on the southern edge of the Lüneburg Heath.

The Gymnasium Hankensbüttel is a Gymnasium in Hankensbüttel, Lower Saxony and the oldest one in the district of Gifhorn.

The village of Ohrdorf lies in the north German state of Lower Saxony in the district of Gifhorn and belongs to the town of Wittingen. The village takes its name from the river Ohre, which rises near the village and empties into the Elbe north of Magdeburg. In East German times the state border ran down the centre of the Ohre not far from the village. The nearest settlement on the East German side was Haselhorst; but it was no longer accessible after the 1950s and the road link was not reopened until 1990. St. Laurence Church (Laurentius-Kirche), built in 1235, is a fieldstone church and has a Gothic polyptych from the year 1470. According to legend the altar was intended for a church in Wittingen. The wagon on which the altar was carried, broke a wheel in Ohrdorf, an incident that the villagers exploited in order to make the driver drunk and to take the altar for their own church. The pulpit dates to 1700, the ceiling paintings to 1711. North of Ohrdorf is a residential windmill.

Neuekrug is a village and a former municipality in the district Altmarkkreis Salzwedel, in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Since 1 January 2010, it is part of the municipality Diesdorf. The municipality consisted of the three villages Höddelsen, Reddigau and Neuekrug. The Salzwedel Dumme river rises near Neuekrug-Höddelsen.

Lüder is a municipality in the district of Uelzen, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Through the area flows a small river of the same name, with its source in the upland bog of the Völzberger Köpfchen and its mouth where it flows into the Fulda.
