Saint-Laurent-de-Belzagot

The canton of Montmoreau-Saint-Cybard is a former administrative division in the Charente department, France. It had 4,710 inhabitants (2012). It was disbanded following the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. It consisted of 14 communes, which joined the canton of Tude-et-Lavalette in 2015. The canton comprised the following communes:

Montmoreau-Saint-Cybard (French pronunciation: [mɔ̃mɔʁo sɛ̃ sibaʁ]) is a former commune in the Charente department in southwestern France. On 1 January 2017, it was merged into the new commune Montmoreau. The town is overlooked by a castle that dates from the Middle Ages, and a chapel within its gardens is classified as a historic monument. While its walls date from the eleventh century, the castle was destroyed during the Hundred Years War. Today only a large gate remains of the original; the current castle was built in the 15th century in the form of a manor within the old walls. The Church of Saint-Denis, which was restored starting in the 19th century, dates from the 12th.

The municipality was established on 1 January 2017 by merger of the former communes of Montmoreau-Saint-Cybard (the seat), Aignes-et-Puypéroux, Saint-Amant-de-Montmoreau, Saint-Eutrope and Saint-Laurent-de-Belzagot.

Saint-Eutrope (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃.t‿øtʁɔp]) is a former commune in the Charente department in southwestern France. On 1 January 2017, it was merged into the new commune Montmoreau.

Saint-Amant-de-Montmoreau (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃.t‿amɑ̃ də mɔ̃mɔʁo], literally Saint-Amant of Montmoreau; before 2013: Saint-Amant) is a former commune in the Charente department in southwestern France. On 1 January 2017, it was merged into the new commune Montmoreau.

Chavenat (French pronunciation: [ʃavna]) is a former commune in the Charente department in southwestern France. On 1 January 2016, it was merged into the new commune Boisné-la-Tude.
