La Rochefoucauld, Charente

La Rochefoucauld-en-Angoumois (French pronunciation: [la ʁɔʃfuko ɑ̃.n‿ɑ̃ɡumwa], literally La Rochefoucauld in Angoumois; Occitan: La Ròcha Focaud d'Engolmés) is a commune in the department of Charente, southwestern France. It was established on 1 January 2019 by merger of the former communes of La Rochefoucauld (the seat) and Saint-Projet-Saint-Constant. In February 2021, speleologists explored a kilometre-long sepulchral cave containing numerous ceramics and a dozen human skulls. The site, located in the commune, was occupied for more than a millennium during the Bronze Age, until about 900 BC.

The canton of Val de Tardoire is an administrative division of the Charente department, southwestern France. It was created at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in La Rochefoucauld-en-Angoumois. It consists of the following communes:

Saint-Projet-Saint-Constant (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃ pʁɔʒɛ sɛ̃ kɔ̃stɑ̃]; Occitan: Sent Priech e Sent Constanç) is a former commune in the Charente department in southwestern France. On 1 January 2019, it was merged into the new commune La Rochefoucauld-en-Angoumois.
