Kooigem is a submunicipality of the city of Kortrijk, Belgium. As of 2007 it had a population of 791.

Pecq (French pronunciation: [pɛk]; Picard: Pècq; Walloon: Pêk) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. The municipality consists of the following districts: Esquelmes, Hérinnes, Obigies, Pecq, and Warcoing.

On 4 July 1989, a pilotless MiG-23 jet fighter of the Soviet Air Forces crashed into a house in Bellegem, near Kortrijk, Belgium, killing one person. The pilot had ejected over an hour earlier near Kołobrzeg, Poland, after experiencing technical problems, but the aircraft continued flying for around 900 km (600 mi) before running out of fuel and descending into the ground.

The Battle of Tournay or Battle of Tournai or Battle of Pont-à-Chin (22 May 1794) saw Republican French forces led by Jean-Charles Pichegru attack Coalition forces under Emperor Francis II and Prince Josias of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld. After a bitter all-day struggle, Coalition troops recaptured a few key positions including Pont-à-Chin, forcing the French to retreat. The Coalition allies included soldiers from Austria, Great Britain, Hanover, and Hesse-Darmstadt. The Flanders Campaign battle was fought near Tournai in modern Belgium on the Schelde River, located about 80 km (50 mi) southwest of Brussels. In late April 1794, French forces seized both Courtrai and Menin. On 10–12 May in the Battle of Courtrai and on 17–18 May in the Battle of Tourcoing, the Coalition army failed to dislodge French forces holding these two cities. In a bid to drive the Allies from Tournai, Pichegru launched a frontal attack on their positions west of the city. Though the French were repulsed, the severe fighting in April and May 1794 convinced many Coalition leaders that defending the Austrian Netherlands was a lost cause.

Mont-Saint-Aubert is a village of Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Tournai, located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. The village lies at the north side of Tournai. Aubertianella, a genus of fossil ciliates, found in Eocene beds of Mont de la Trinité near Mont-Saint-Aubert, has received its name after the village.

Zwevegem (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈzʋeːvəɣɛm] (listen)) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Heestert, Moen, Otegem, Sint-Denijs and Zwevegem. On January 1, 2019, Zwevegem had a total population of 24,648. The total area is 63.24 km2 which gives a population density of 380 inhabitants per km2. The Bekaert company was founded in Zwevegem by Baron Leon Leander Bekaert. Heestert Military Cemetery holds the graves of 127 Britons and 57 Germans, most of whom died on 21–25 October 1918 in the area during the First World War.

Estaimpuis (French pronunciation: [etɛ̃pɥi] or [etɛ̃pwi]; Dutch: Steenput; Picard: Timpu) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. It consists of the following districts: Bailleul, Belgium, Estaimbourg, Estaimpuis, Évregnies, Leers-Nord, Néchin, and Saint-Léger, Estaimpuis. The municipality is located in Picardy Wallonia.

La Royère Castle (French: Château de la Royère) is a ruined medieval castle in Néchin in the municipality of Estaimpuis, province of Hainaut, Wallonia, Belgium.

Heestert is a village in the south of the Belgian province of West Flanders and since 1976 has been part of the Zwevegem municipality. It has an area of 13 km² and population of 2,880. The Onze-Lieve-Vrouw Assumption Church includes a late Gothic choir and two side chapels of the former church from 1500. In 1771 a new single-aisled nave with a western tower was built. The church was restored after burning down in 1931. Next to the church is the Heestert Military Cemetery with the graves of 127 British soldiers and 57 Germans who died at the end of October 1918 during the Hundred Days Offensive.

Néchin is a town of Wallonia and district of the municipality of Estaimpuis, located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium, near the border with France's Nord-Pas-de-Calais region. It was a municipality until the fusion of the Belgian municipalities in 1977. The village of Néchin has become known for the number of French millionaires and billionaires living there. It benefits from its location next to the French border, very close to Lille Métropole metropolitan area, and from Belgium's tax laws which are advantageous to people with high earnings from stock or capital gains, compared to the laws in France. Members of the Mulliez family, owners of the Auchan hypermarket chain and Decathlon sports stores, own a number of properties. In 2012 it was reported that Gérard Depardieu was purchasing a house in the village.

Avelgem (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈaːvəlɣɛm] ; West Flemish: Oavelgem) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Avelgem proper, Bossuit, Kerkhove, Outrijve and Waarmaarde. On January 1, 2006, Avelgem had a total population of 9,457. The total area is 21.75 km² which gives a population density of 435 inhabitants per km². It has a famous building named 'Spikkerelle', where people can watch movies, theater, exhibitions and there's a room which can be organized into partying.

Bellegem is a village situated in West Flanders, Belgium, near the city of Kortrijk. In 2013, it had a population of 3,790.
