The total area is 63.24 km2 which gives a population density of 380 inhabitants per km2. The Bekaert company was founded in Zwevegem by Baron Leon Leander Bekaert. Heestert Military Cemetery holds the graves of 127 Britons and 57 Germans, most of whom died on 21–25 October 1918 in the area during the First World War.

Spiere-Helkijn (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌspiːrə ˈɦɛlkɛi̯n] ; French: Espierres-Helchin, French pronunciation: [ɛspjɛʁ ɛlʃɛ̃]; West Flemish: Spiere-Elkyng) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Helkijn and Spiere. On January 1, 2018, Spiere-Helkijn had a total population of 2,087. The total area is 10.78 km² which gives a population density of 194 inhabitants per km².

During the fair, producers and designers present their innovating interior products to a broad cultural, commercial and professional audience. AZ Groeninge is a large teaching hospital, affiliated with the Flemish KU Leuven Hospital network, in the Belgian city Kortrijk. The hospital is the result of a merger of four hospitals in Kortrijk and is in number of beds -in its current form- the fifth largest hospital system in Belgium. The -in 2017 opened- new 1000+ hospital bed facility at the Kennedylaan is one of the largest hospital sites in Belgium.
