WYXL (97.3 FM) is a commercial radio station in Ithaca, New York, known as "Lite Rock 97.3." It broadcasts an adult contemporary radio format. The station has been owned by Saga Communications, operating as part of its Cayuga Radio Group, since 2005. It is co-owned with WHCU, WQNY, WIII, and WNYY. In the evening, WYXL carries the nationally syndicated show John Tesh, Intelligence for Your Life. WYXL has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 26,000 watts. It broadcasts using HD Radio technology. The HD2 digital subchannel carries an adult album alternative (AAA) format, feeding an FM translator at 96.7 MHz. The HD3 subchannel carries a sports radio format, feeding an FM translator at 96.3 MHz.

Dryden is a town in Tompkins County, New York, United States. The population was 14,435 at the 2010 census. The town administers an area that includes two villages, one also named Dryden and one named Freeville, as well as a number of hamlets. The town is on the county's eastern border, east of Ithaca, in the Finger Lakes region.

The Hartung–Boothroyd Observatory (HBO) is located atop Mount Pleasant near the Cornell University in Ithaca, New York (US). It is used mainly as a teaching facility for upper-level undergraduate astronomy classes. The observatory is named to recognize funding from M. John Hartung, a 1908 Cornell graduate and later chemical industrialist, and to honor Samuel L. Boothroyd, the founder of Cornell's Department of Astronomy. The facility was designed and directed from 1974-2012 by James R. Houck. The primary 0.6m mirror was constructed from a Pyrex 1/8-scale test pouring as part of technology development for the Palomar Observatory 200-inch telescope. The mirror was polished and mounted in a lightweight tube in the late 1930s under Boothroyd's direction, but World War II deferred its planned use in a high-altitude observatory. This facility, together with an equatorial fork mount to hold the previously completed telescope, was completed in 1974.

West Dryden Methodist Episcopal Church is a historic Methodist Episcopal church located at Dryden in Tompkins County, New York. It is a two-story, frame church structure built in 1832 in the Federal style. It was remodeled during 1870–1890. It features a tower with an octagonal belfry. Since 1966 it has been used as the West Dryden Community Center.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Freeville is a village in Tompkins County, New York, United States. The population was 520 at the 2010 census. The Village of Freeville is in the Town of Dryden and is east of Ithaca. It is the only incorporated municipality in the United States named Freeville.

Dryden District School No. 5, also known as Eight Square Schoolhouse, is a historic octagonal school building located in Dryden in Tompkins County, New York. It was built in 1827 and is a simple one-room, one-story, brick octagon style building constructed with a low pitch hipped roof banded by a plain narrow frieze. A circular brick chimney rises from the center of the standing seam metal roof. Also on the property are two free standing, wood frame, gable roofed outhouses. It was used as a school until 1941 and is now a facility of the Dewitt Historical Society.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994.
