Coton, Northamptonshire (lost settlement)

Coton is a hamlet and former civil parish, now in the parish of Ravensthorpe, in the West Northamptonshire district, in the ceremonial county of Northamptonshire, England. It is located between Guilsborough and Ravensthorpe. Coton Manor is a popular visitor attraction for its gardens and bluebell woods. In 1931 the parish had a population of 83.

Guilsborough House is a country house in Guilsborough near Northampton, England. It is a Grade II listed building.

Nortoft was once a distinct hamlet between the Northamptonshire village of Guilsborough and the main road connecting Leicester and Northampton (now the A5199) in the English Midlands. However, due to Guilsborough's expansion the two communities are now merged. Nortoft was originally a Saxon hamlet and was separate from Guilsborough through medieval times. Its Saxon origins have been recorded and it was built along the spring line in the fields below Nortoft Cottage. Here lies evidence of possible tofts in the form of building platforms, with a possible watercourse servicing a pond. Nortoft Cottage is built around a very old cob cottage, possibly medieval, and the location may well have been part of the Saxon village settlement, and so is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, house in the village. In Guilsborough village there is recorded evidence of a large Iron Age fortified settlement, and remains of a small fortified Roman settlement can still be seen as a raised bank below the church, at the corner of the High Street and the Coton Road. Cromwell camped at Guilsborough the night before the Battle of Naseby (14 June 1645) and so would have marched through Nortoft on the way to battle.

At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population was 882 people, reducing to 692 at the 2011 Census.It is at the centre of an area of rural villages between the towns of Northampton, Daventry, Rugby and Market Harborough. There is a secondary school, primary school, fire station, pub, a new village shop including a Post Office (formerly the doctor's surgery) and a new doctor's surgery with pharmacy and a Hairdressers.

Hollowell is a village and civil parish in West Northamptonshire in England. At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population, including the nearby hamlet of Teeton, was 353 people, increasing to 385 at the 2011 Census. The village was originally a hamlet of Guilsborough, becoming a separate parish from 1850. Hollowell is mentioned in the Domesday Survey of 1086 as belonging the Bishop of Lincoln having "... 4 villeins with 1 bordar having 1 plough. It was, and is worth, 10 schillings. Bardi held (it) freely."

Ravensthorpe is a village and civil parish in West Northamptonshire in England. The village lies approximately midway between Northampton and Rugby. The M1 motorway is six miles west and the nearest railway station is at Long Buckby. At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population was 656 people, including Coton but falling slightly to 646 at the 2011 census.The village's name means 'outlying farm/settlement of Hrafn'. Services within the village include a shop, the 'Chequers' pub, a playing field, a small park and a woodland maintained by the Woodland Trust.

East Haddon is a small village and civil parish in West Northamptonshire in England. The village is located eight miles from Northampton and is surrounded by the villages of Holdenby, Ravensthorpe and Long Buckby. The location between Northampton and Long Buckby provides useful train links towards London and Birmingham. At the time of the 2001 census, the parish's population was 651 people, falling to 643 at the 2011 census.The villages name means 'Heathy hill'. 'East' to distinguish from West Haddon.

Teeton is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Hollowell, in the West Northamptonshire district, in the ceremonial county of Northamptonshire, England. In 1931 the parish had a population of 55. In 1866 Teeton became a civil parish, on 1 April 1935 the parish was abolished and merged with Hollowell.The village's name means 'Beacon'. The village is situated on the end of a ridge.

Holdenby House is a historic country house in Northamptonshire, traditionally pronounced, and sometimes spelt, Holmby. The house is situated in the parish of Holdenby, six miles (10 km) northwest of Northampton and close to Althorp. It is a Grade II* listed building.
