Canning Bridge is a traffic bridge which is the most downstream crossing of the Canning River in the city of Perth, Western Australia. The bridge is a part of Canning Highway, and it connects the suburbs of Como and Applecross. The Canning River is approximately 100 metres (330 feet) wide at the crossing, the narrowest point of the river along its downstream stretch. It is located near the Canning Bridge railway station.

The Canning River (Nyungar: Djarlgarra) is a major tributary of the Swan River in the South West Land Division of Western Australia. It is home to much wildlife including dolphins, pelicans, swans and many other bird species.

The Swan River Trust was a Western Australian state government statutory authority defined by the Swan and Canning Rivers Management Act 2006. The Trust reported to the Minister for Environment. It was preceded by the Swan River Management Authority (1977–1989) and earlier Swan River Conservation Board (1959–1976). It was established in 1989 to protect and manage the Swan and Canning rivers. The Trust had several community engagement programs that allowed the Perth community to be involved in caring for the Swan Canning Riverpark including River Guardians, the Dolphin Watch Project, and Ribbons of Blue.On 1 July 2015, the staff and functions of the Swan River Trust were merged with the Department of Parks and Wildlife.

Aquinas opened in 1938, when the headmaster, boarders and day students from Christian Brothers' College, Perth (CBC Perth) moved to the new campus at Salter Point. The history of Aquinas begins with CBC Perth which was founded in 1894 on St Georges Terrace in the Perth. Aquinas was the beneficiary of CBC Perth's history, honours and achievements for the period 1894–1937.The campus at Aquinas was built on elevated land which is part of the 69-hectare (171-acre) site at Salter Point.
