Shastri Nagar is a residential area in Goregaon, Mumbai, India. Like most localities in the western suburbs, it has several international schools like VIBGYOR High School, Temples (Ram Mandir), a Mosque, Rosary Church, Gurudwara and a Buddh Vihar. There is also a small Jain Temple. Shastri Nagar is connected by roads such as Link road, M.G. Road, and S.V. Road. The M G Road connects the Goregaon Railway Station with Shastri Nagar. The current Sitting MLA is Subhash Desai of Shiv Sena and the BMC Corporator is Sameer Desai. Shastri Nagar has more than thirty co-op housing societies. Most societies in this area are over 30 years old, hence most of them are under reconstruction. Among the newer, more posh buildings is Shepherd, Shraddha, and Fourteen Stars Society, etc. The housing societies in Shastri Nagar Nagar are from 1 to 10 types.

The Varasiddhi Vinayakar Temple in Besant Nagar, Chennai, India is a Hindu temple, located near the beach in Besant Nagar. It is dedicated to the Hindu god Vinayaka or Ganesha. The temple participates in activities such as feeding the poor and holds poojas frequently. The first Kumbabhishekam (consecration) of the temple after extension activity was held in April, 1979 before which the idol was being worshiped at a site opposite the present site of the temple, within the CPWD Quarters compound. In fact, in the sanctum sanctorum, we see the idol of Valampuri Varasiddhi Vinayakar with Consort Siddhi held at His left. Over this idol, we see a small Ganesh Idol. This was the original idol that was being worshipped at the original site. Subsequent developments took place rapidly, like, construction of an auditorium behind the praharam on the eastern side and Goshala. The Temple conducts music program during Vinayakar Chathurthi time in this auditorium, which is also permitted for the conduct of musical/cultural programs by other organizations.

Olcott Memorial High School is a secondary school located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is a free school providing free education, school uniforms, educational materials and nutritious meals to about 500 underprivileged boys and girls.

The Kaj Schmidt Memorial is an architectural landmark commemorating a Danish sailor who drowned in 1930 trying to save the life of a white girl. It is located at Elliot's Beach in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The monument was in a derelict state, but has recently been restored.

Edward Elliot's Beach, simply called as Elliot's Beach and popularly known as Besant Nagar Beach or the Bessie, is a natural urban beach located in the Besant Nagar neighbourhood of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located next to the southern tip of the Marina Beach, and was named after Edward Elliot, a chief magistrate and superintendent of police of the Madras Presidency in colonial India. It has the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Health—also known as Annai Vailankanni Church—on its shore, and the Ashtalakshmi Temple nearby.During the colonial era, Elliot's beach was fairly exclusive to white people only. Today, the beach and its Kaj Schmidt Memorial are cultural landmarks of Chennai, visited by thousands daily. Safety on and around the beach is ensured by a police outpost and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).

Shasthri Nagar is a residential neighbourhood in south Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Shasthri Nagar was developed by Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The suburb is close to Edward Elliot's Beach of Besant Nagar.

The Ashtalakshmi Kovil is a Hindu temple, which lies on the shorelines near the Elliot's beach, in Chennai, India. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Lakshmi, and her eight primary forms – the Ashtalakshmi – the giver of all eight forms of wealth, namely, offspring, success, prosperity, wealth, courage, bravery, food, and knowledge. The sanctorums are depicted on a multi-tier complex in such a way that visitors could visit all the shrines without stepping over any of the sanctorums.

The Theosophy Society was founded by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and others in 1875. The designation 'Adyar' is sometimes added to the name to make it clear that this is the Theosophical Society headquartered there, after the American section and some other lodges separated from it in 1895, under William Quan Judge. In 1882, its headquarters moved with Blavatsky and president Henry Steel Olcott from New York to Adyar, an area of Chennai, India. The US National Section of this organization is called the Theosophical Society in America located in Wheaton, Illinois.

Adyar is a large neighbourhood in south Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is located on the southern banks of the Adyar River. It is surrounded by the Tharamani in the West, Thiruvanmiyur to the South, Besant Nagar in the East, Kotturpuram in the North-West and Raja Annamalai puram in the North past the Adyar River . Adyar is one of the costliest areas in Chennai with property values four times the value of similar sized properties in the northern part of Chennai. The Gandhi Nagar region of Adyar is one of the poshest localities in Chennai.

The Adyar Library and Research Centre was founded in 1886 by theosophist Henry Steel Olcott. The library is at the Theosophical Society Adyar in Adyar, near Chennai.
