The James Pardee House, situated on the grounds of the John Pardee Homestead at 129 North Main Street, is one of the well-known historic homes built in the eighteenth century in the town of Sharon, Connecticut, according to the 1935 edition of The Connecticut Guide. Constructed in 1782 of locally produced salmon-colored brick, the Pardee House retains much of its original character and represents a significant and well-preserved vernacular expression of the late Georgian style in architecture, materials and workmanship in the State of Connecticut. The Pardee House has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing structure in the Sharon Historic District, and received its own separate listing as well in 2003. The two-story, five-bay, brick structure with a center-hall plan was constructed by James Pardee, the son of John Pardee, one of the founders of the Town of Sharon, on the town's original Proprietor Home Lot #29. According to SPNEA documentation, the Pardee House is very well preserved at the exterior, which includes the retention of most of the building's original sash windows. At the interior of the Pardee House, numerous original and early features are preserved, including unusual structural framing, hand-carved woodwork, plaster on split lath, softwood floorboards and fireplaces. Located north of the Pardee House on the grounds of the original John Pardee Homestead is a ca. 1960 guest cottage. The open space of the Pardee Homestead retains its rural characteristics and consists primarily of lawn, gardens and a large open field located East of the house. In 2002, the Boston-based Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities (SPNEA, now Historic New England) acquired a preservation restriction on the property in perpetuity.

The George King House, also known locally as the King-Hart House is a historic house at 12 North Main Street in Sharon, Connecticut. Its oldest portion dating to 1769, this brick house is significant for its associations with George King, a prominent local businessman during the American Revolutionary War, and with Thomas C. Hart, a United States senator and Admiral in the United States Navy. The house was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006; it had also been listed in 1993 as part of the Sharon Historic District.

The Ebenezer Gay House, also known locally as the Gay-Hoyt House, is a historic house museum at 18 Main Street in Sharon, Connecticut. Built in 1775, it is a well-preserved example of Georgian colonial architecture in brick. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, and is part of the Sharon Historic District, listed in 1993. It is now home to the Sharon Historical Society.

The Governor Smith Homestead is a historic house on South Main Street in Sharon, Connecticut. Built between 1765 and 1777, this large stone house has been a distinctive presence on the Sharon Green for over 200 years. It was for many years the home of John Cotton Smith, Governor of Connecticut during the War of 1812, and a nephew of the house's builder, Simeon Smith. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, and was included in the Sharon Historic District in 1993.

Audubon Sharon, which consists of the Sharon Audubon Center and the Emily Winthrop Miles Wildlife Sanctuary, is a wildlife sanctuary of the National Audubon Society in Sharon, Connecticut. The 1,147 acres (464 ha) of the Sharon Audubon Center property is primarily forest land with two ponds with 11 miles (18 km) of trails for visitors to use. Its facilities include a raptor aviary, a herb garden, a garden to attract birds and butterflies, a sugar house, a memorial room to Hal Borland, a small museum and store. Sharon Audubon Center is located at 325 Cornwall Bridge Road. The other part of Audubon Sharon is the Emily Winthrop Miles Wildlife Sanctuary, which currently encompasses 1,500 acres (610 ha) of land that is situated in 5,000 acres (2,000 ha) of protected open space. The residential facility within the wildlife sanctuary is used by interns and scientists who are conducting work in the area; none of the buildings are currently open to the public. Parking and access is available at 99 West Cornwall Road. Audubon Sharon offers environmental education programs for school groups. The Center also has summer and weekend environmental programs for adults and children.

The Sharon Valley Historic District is located around the junction of Kings Hill, Sharon Valley and Sharon Station roads in Sharon, Connecticut, United States. It is a small community that grew up around an iron mining and refining operation during the late 19th century, the first industry in Sharon. Many of the buildings within date from that era. Some are intact examples of their respective architectural styles. There are remains of the original industrial facilities, and three iron bridges. The area was designated a historic district and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Indian Mountain School is an independent coeducational boarding and day school for children grades pre-K through 9, located on two campuses in Lakeville, Connecticut, United States. The school consists of Lower and Upper campus, with Lower Campus being for children in primary school (pre-k to fourth), while the Upper Campus is home to students grades 5 through 9. However, boarding is only available for students in grades six to nine. Indian Mountain School is often abbreviated as IMS.

The Hotchkiss School is a private, coeducational prep and boarding school in Lakeville, Connecticut, United States. Hotchkiss is a member of the Eight Schools Association and Ten Schools Admissions Organization, competing in the Founders League and New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). Historically, it was a founding member of the G20 Schools group (not to be confused with the G20 Summit), before six schools left ahead of the renaming to G30 Schools.

Hiddenhurst is the former estate of businessman Thomas Hidden, on Sheffield Hill Road in the Town of North East, New York, United States, south of the village of Millerton. It is an elaborate frame house built at the beginning of the 20th century in the neo-Georgian architectural style. Hidden created the estate from portions of four dairy farms in the area and used it to breed horses. After his death in 1918, most of the property was acquired by another large dairy farm in the area, which demolished most of the horse-related facilities. The house is considered one of the most architecturally significant in eastern Dutchess County. In 1991 the remaining estate property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is also a contributing property to the Coleman Station Historic District created two years later.

The Oliver Barrett House is located on Reagan Road in the Town of North East, New York, United States, south of the village of Millerton. It is a frame farmhouse built in the mid-19th century, possibly on the site or with materials from another, older house. In the early 20th century it underwent substantial renovations, particularly of its interior. Later in the century it was subdivided into rental units, a conversion reversed by more recent owners. It combines the Federal and Queen Anne architectural styles. Barrett, a successful farmer who became the first postmaster of the small rural hamlet in the area. It has been a contributing property to the Coleman Station Historic District since that was created in 1991, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in its own right in 2000.

Lake Wononscopomuc is a lake located in the Lakeville section of Salisbury, Connecticut, United States. It has the distinction of being the deepest natural lake in the state. Wononskopumuc is a Mahican name for "rocks at the bend in the lake."Also known as Wononskopomuc Lake or Lakeville Lake, Lake Wononscopomuc is a natural, marl lake that supports a diverse community of aquatic plants. The town beach and a boat launch, known collectively as the Salisbury Town Grove, are on the lake’s north shore. The boathouse and private beach of the Hotchkiss School are on the lake's south shore. Access to the 348 acres (141 ha) lake is monitored because of fears that the invasive zebra mussel will be introduced on boats or trailers from nearby Twin Lakes. The area around the lake is residentially developed, although the houses are on large lots, and most are set far back from the lake behind tree buffers. The maximum depth of the lake is 102 feet (31 m), and mean depth is 36 feet (11 m).
