White County High School (Cleveland, Georgia)

The White County School District is a public school district in White County, Georgia, United States, based in Cleveland, Georgia. It serves the communities of Cleveland and Helen.

Babyland General Hospital is the fictional "birthplace" of the Cabbage Patch Kids dolls located in Cleveland, Georgia. Xavier Roberts converted a former clinic into a retail facility for the sale of his dolls, originally called "Little People." It is presented as a birthing, nursery, and adoption center for premium Cabbage Patch Kids. Although the fad surrounding the dolls has largely died down, this site attracts numerous fans and curiosity seekers.

White County Jail is a historic building in White County, Georgia. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 13, 1985. It is located on Main Street. It may have been constructed in 1900.It is a two-story brick building with plain Italianate design. It was built in 1901 at cost of $4,000, replacing the first jail of the county which was condemned in 1897. Its first floor housed the jailer and family and prisoners were housed on the second floor. It served until the county opened a new county jail in the late 1960s. In 1985 it served as headquarters for the county's Department of Transportation.

Cleveland is a city in White County, Georgia, located 90 miles (140 km) northeast of Atlanta and 128 miles (206 km) southeast of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Its population was 3,514 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of White County.Cleveland is home to the North Georgia Zoo and Petting Farm, Farmhouse Coffee, and Babyland General Hospital, the "birthplace" of Cabbage Patch Kids dolls, as well as an adoption center for the dolls.

The Old White County Courthouse is a historic county courthouse building in Cleveland, Georgia, and home to the White County Historical Society. It was built in 1859. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 28, 1970. It is on GA 115, and flanked by the northbound and southbound lanes of US 129 between SR 115 as well as East Jarrard Street to the north. The building was used for White County government business until 1962 when a modernist courthouse was built south of the square on South Main Street.

Tesnatee Creek is a stream in Georgia, and is a tributary of the Chestatee River. The creek is approximately 12.06 miles (19.41 km) long.Tesnatee is a name derived from the Cherokee language meaning "wild turkey".

Yonah is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in White County, Georgia, United States. It first appeared as a CDP in the 2010 census. Its population was 657 as of the 2020 census. Georgia State Route 75 passes through the community.

Loud Mine was a gold mine in White County, Georgia north of Dahlonega; it was a famous mining site in the 19th century Georgia Gold Rush. The site is now owned by a private gold mining group, and permission is needed to go on the property.

Truett McConnell University is a private Baptist university in Cleveland, Georgia. It is operated under the auspices of the Georgia Baptist Convention and controlled by a board of trustees elected by the convention. The university was named to honor George W. Truett and Fernando C. McConnell.

Smithgall Woods Conservation Area and Lodge is a 5,664 acres (8.85 sq mi; 22.92 km2) Georgia state park, lodge and protected wilderness area near Helen, Georgia. It contains old growth forests, 12 miles of trout streams, and populations of wild turkeys, bears and deer.The area is named for Charles A. Smithgall Jr., a Georgia publisher, broadcaster and philanthropist who sold the property to the state in 1994 for half its appraised value. He had assembled the acreage in the 1970s and had a team clear trash, restock streams and plant thousands of trees. In a 1988 interview Smithgall was quoted, "At some point, a man has to put something back. I hate to see people just take from the land and never put something back."

White County is a county located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 census, the population was 28,003. The county seat is Cleveland. The county was created on December 22, 1857, formerly a part of Habersham County and most likely was named for Newton County Representative David T. White, who helped a Habersham representative successfully attain passage of an act creating the new county.

Yonah Mountain (commonly referred to as "Mount Yonah" or, by older Georgians, "Yonah Bald") is a mountain ridge located in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest in Georgia, United States. It is between the cities of Cleveland and Helen. Yonah is the Cherokee word for Bear.There is a signed trailhead from Chambers Road and an approximately 2.3 mile trail (gaining 1500 feet in elevation) leads to the summit. There are also side trails that lead to neighboring Pink Mountain. The 5th Ranger Training Battalion, Ranger Training Brigade of the United States Army conducts the Mountain Phase of Ranger School on Yonah Mountain. It has been a popular training ground for rock climbers.Like Lookout Mountain's Rock City, Yonah Mountain is the site of a Native American legend about a beautiful Cherokee maiden named Nacoochee who fell in love with the Chickasaw warrior Sautee. When their love was forbidden by their tribal elders, a war party followed the eloping lovers and threw Sautee off the mountain, with Nacoochee then jumping to her death, a Lover's Leap. Although he did not invent the legend, George Williams, the son of one of the original white settlers, popularized it in his 1871 Sketches of Travel in the Old and New World.
