Cranfield

Church of St Peter & St Paul is a Grade I listed church in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England. It became a listed building on 23 January 1961.

Cranfield Airport (ICAO: EGTC) is an airfield just outside the village of Cranfield, in Bedfordshire, England. It is 7 NM (13 km; 8.1 mi) south-west of Bedford and 5.5 NM (10.2 km; 6.3 mi) east of Milton Keynes. It was originally a Second World War aerodrome, RAF Cranfield. It is now used for business aviation, private flights, and for research and development activities.

Cranfield Court was a country house in Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England. It belonged to the Harter family. The last house at the site was Elizabethan, and designed by Thomas Chambers Hine of Nottingham for Reverend G. G. Harter in 1862–4. In 1912 the house was described as "a large modern red-brick building with Bath stone dressings, in the French Gothic style". At that time it belonged to the widow of James Francis Hatfield Harter. Harter had served as the Justice of the Peace for Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, and was High Sheriff of Bedfordshire in 1885. The house, which was compared to Battlesden House in style, was later demolished.

Cranfield United Football Club is a football club based in Cranfield, near Bedford, Bedfordshire, England. The club is affiliated to the Bedfordshire County Football Association. They are currently members of the Spartan South Midlands League Division One.

Cranfield University is a British postgraduate-only public research university specialising in science, engineering, design, technology and management. Cranfield was founded as the College of Aeronautics (CoA) in 1946. Through the 1950s and 1960s, the development of aircraft research led to growth and diversification into other areas such as manufacturing and management, and in 1967, to the founding of the Cranfield School of Management. In 1969, the College of Aeronautics was renamed the Cranfield Institute of Technology, was incorporated by royal charter, gained degree awarding powers, and became a university. In 1993, it adopted its current name.Cranfield University has two campuses: the main campus is at Cranfield, Bedfordshire, and the second is at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom at Shrivenham, southwest Oxfordshire. The main campus is unique in the United Kingdom (and Europe) for having its own airport – Cranfield Airport – and its own aircraft, used for teaching and research.

Marston Thrift is a 37.4-hectare (92-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest between Marston Moretaine and Cranfield in Bedfordshire. It was notified in 1984 under Section 28 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, and the local planning authority is Central Bedfordshire Council. It is also a Local Nature Reserve, which extends to a larger area of 55.8 hectares.The site is ash and maple woodland on heavy clay, a habitat which has become scarce in lowland England. It also has areas of damp grassland, and a grassland valley. It is an important site for butterflies, including the rare black hairstreak.There is access from a car park at Wood End, and by footpaths from Cranfield and Marston Moretaine.

Hulcote and Salford is a civil parish in the district of Central Bedfordshire in the county of Bedfordshire. The parish was formed in 1933 by the union of the civil parishes of Hulcote and Salford. Until 1974 the parish was part of the Ampthill rural district.

Brogborough is a village and civil parish in the Central Bedfordshire district of Bedfordshire, England, by junction 13 of the M1 motorway. According to the 2001, census it had a population of 343, reducing to 302 at the 2011 Census. The village is about 2.5 miles (4 km) east of Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire.

In 1931 the parish had a population of 39.Historically part of the Manshead hundred, some evidence has been found indicating possible Neolithic, New Stone Age and Roman settlement in the area. Hulcote Mill and Hulcote Manor (now private houses) are both mentioned in the Domesday Book. However, it is known that Hulcote has been consistently occupied since the Dark Ages. Hulcote has a church called St Nicholas. The ecclesiastical parishes of Hulcote and Salford were united in 1750. On 1 April 1933 the civil parish of "Holcot" was abolished and merged with Salford to form "Hulcote and Salford".Today, Hulcote is located directly to the north of the M1 motorway, close to the border of the Milton Keynes borough in Buckinghamshire.

Salford () is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Hulcote and Salford, in the Central Bedfordshire district, in the ceremonial county of Bedfordshire, England. It is located near the large new town of Milton Keynes and the M1 motorway. In 1931 the parish had a population of 133. On 1 April 1933, the parish was merged with Hulcote to form "Hulcote and Salford".The Church of St Mary the Virgin is in the village.
