Plévenon

Cap Fréhel is a peninsula in Côtes-d'Armor, in northern Brittany, France which extends off the Côte d'Émeraude into the Golfe de Saint-Malo. No towns or villages are situated on the peninsula; however, two lighthouses, one from the 17th century and the other one from 1950, are located at the tip of it. The Cap is located 8.5 km from the town centre of Fréhel, although, administratively, it is located within the territory of the commune of Plévenon. The peninsula is surrounded mainly by cliffs, which make it difficult to access it via sea. The whole of the undulating terrain is covered in moorland and marshes, which make it difficult to construct any structure on the site. Cap Fréhel gives its name to Cape Freels when sailors from Newfoundland begin to fish Atlantic cod. It is also the finish of Stage 5 of the 2011 Tour de France. French actress and singer Fréhel had taken her stage name from this peninsula.

Between 1972 and 2004, the commune of Plévenon was merged with Pléhérel and the combination of the two took the name of Fréhel, drawn from the name of Cap Fréhel, on which both communes were located. However, in 2004, Plévenon became once again a distinct commune, while Pléhérel retained the name of the commune of Fréhel.

Fort la Latte, or the Castle of the Rock Goyon (French: La Roche-Goyon, Breton: Roc'h-Goueon), is a castle in the northeast of Brittany, about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) southeast of Cap Fréhel and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) west of Saint-Malo, in the commune of Plévenon, Côtes-d'Armor. It is a famous tourist attraction of the bay of Saint-Malo and the Emerald Coast (France) Côte d'Émeraude. This impressive castle was built on a small piece of land at the Bay of the Fresnay in the 14th century. Various films have been shot at this site, including The Vikings (1958) by Richard Fleischer with Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis. It also features in the French band Manau's video for "La Tribu de Dana." A much larger, fictionalized version of the fort appears in the 2015 animated film April and the Extraordinary World.

It is port city on the English Channel as it also has a nautical center, the Centre Nautique de Saint-Cast (CNSC) ranked 3rd to 6th in the nation. The river Arguenon flows through the commune, where it empties into the sea.

Saint-Pôtan (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃ potɑ̃]; Breton: Sant-Postan) is a commune in the Côtes-d'Armor department of Brittany in northwestern France. It takes its name from Saint Pôtan, the namesake of the commune's church. It has grown steadily since 2011 owing to new housing estates and contains a small variety of shops. It is surrounded by more than a dozen stone crosses. In the village of Saint-Pôtan is a manor house now called «Le Vaumeloisel», which used to be a chateau before being destroyed in the French Revolution. This chateau once welcomed the Duchess Anne of Brittany, who married two French kings, and is now a family house. The family who once lived in this house were the Guyon family, who are French aristocrats who own many manor houses in the department of Côtes-d'Armor. One of these includes the well known Fort-la-Latte chateau, where the movie The Vikings was filmed. Much local employment comes from agriculture and tourism, but it is also the home of Sodimac, the major employer of the commune, a manufacturer of agricultural machinery and steel building components.

The Arguenon (French pronunciation: [aʁɡənɔ̃]; Breton: Argenon) is a French coastal river in the Côtes-d'Armor department of the Brittany region. It flows into the English Channel.

The Singing Stones of Brittany (or Pierres sonnantes du Guildo) are a number of rocks located on the left bank of the river Arguenon opposite the ruined castle of Gilles de Bretagne at Notre-Dame-le-Guildo, near Dinard in the Côtes-d'Armor, France. The stones are round and smooth, shiny black and extremely large, weighing in excess of ten tonnes each and are made of a heavy metallic stone that rings like a bell if struck by another smaller piece of the same stone. There are hundreds of tonnes of them and there is no indication of where they came from or how they got there. They are basalt, but this type of rock is usually associated with volcanic eruptions and there is no evidence or history of volcanic activity there. The stones are unlike any of the surrounding stones either on the ground or on the cliff face overlooking them; legend has it that these stones were spewed up by the giant Gargantua.
