Sunnyvale Public Library

Sunnyvale () is a city located in the Santa Clara Valley in northwest Santa Clara County, California. Sunnyvale lies along the historic El Camino Real and Highway 101 and is bordered by portions of San Jose to the north, Moffett Federal Airfield and NASA Ames Research Center to the northwest, Mountain View to the northwest, Los Altos to the southwest, Cupertino to the south, and Santa Clara to the east. As of the 2020 United States Census, Sunnyvale's population was 155,805, making it the county's second most populous city (after San Jose) and the seventh most populous city in the San Francisco Bay Area. As one of the major cities comprising California's high-tech area known as Silicon Valley, Sunnyvale is the birthplace of the video game industry, former location of Atari headquarters, and the location of a fictional computer game company in the 1983 film WarGames. Many technology companies are headquartered in Sunnyvale and many more operate there, including several aerospace/defense companies. Sunnyvale was also the home to Onizuka Air Force Station, often referred to as "the Blue Cube" due to the color and shape of its windowless main building. The facility, previously known as Sunnyvale Air Force Station, was named for the deceased Space Shuttle Challenger astronaut Ellison Onizuka. It served as an artificial satellite control facility of the U.S. military until August 2010 and has since been decommissioned and demolished. Sunnyvale is one of the few U.S. cities to have a single unified Department of Public Safety, where all personnel are trained as firefighters, police officers, and EMTs, so that they can respond to an emergency in any of the three roles. Library services for the city are provided by the Sunnyvale Public Library, located at the Sunnyvale Civic Center.

Sunnyvale Town Center was a two-level shopping mall located in Sunnyvale, California, USA. It opened in 1979 on the site of much of the city's downtown, and was anchored by Macy's, Montgomery Ward, and later, J.C. Penney. Target moved in when Montgomery Ward closed. By the early 2000s, the mall had failed financially and only the Target and Macy's (closed in 2019) stores remained open. Work on a mixed-use development to replace the mall was stalled by a legal dispute from 2009 to 2015, with most buildings incomplete, but resumed after the city reached an agreement with new developers in mid-2016. By the end of 2020, a multi-screen movie theater and a supermarket had been built and opened in addition to most of the residential buildings; as of January 2021, replacement plans were going forward for a group of lots including the site of Macy's, which closed in 2019. Much of the area has now been rebranded as CityLine Sunnyvale.

Sunnyvale is a Caltrain station in Sunnyvale, California. The station is within walking distance of the historic downtown of Sunnyvale and the new Cityline Sunnyvale shopping center.

Catholic Academy of Sunnyvale is a Roman Catholic elementary school operated by Drexel Schools of the Diocese of San Jose's Department of Education San Jose, California. It has approximately 200 + students, from kindergarten to eighth grade. The last principal was Diane Rabago, but is now being managed by Susan Morissey since 2015. The school consolidated St. Cyprian School with St. Martin School in Sunnyvale, CA to form the Catholic Academy of Sunnyvale.

The Joshua Hendy Iron Works was an American engineering company that existed from the 1850s to the late 1940s. It was at one time a world leader in mining technology and its equipment was used in the construction of the Panama Canal, amongst other major projects. The company went on to serve many different markets during the course of its existence, but is perhaps best remembered today for its contribution to the American shipbuilding industry during World War II.

Clover is a cloud-based Android point of sale (POS) platform that was launched in April 2012. The company is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California. As of the quarter ended September 2020, Clover processed $133 billion of annualized card transactions worldwide, making it the largest U.S. cloud POS firm.Clover was acquired on December 28, 2012 by First Data Corporation, which itself was acquired by Fiserv, the world's largest merchant acquirer, on July 29, 2019. Bank of America Merchant Services was the first to announce it would sell Clover to its merchant base in October 2013. PNC Merchant Services was the second to announce it would sell Clover to its merchant base.

Pellier Park, is a city park covering 0.5 acres (0.20 ha) in San Jose, California, United States, located in close proximity to San Pedro Square. This park holds historical significance as it was once home to City Gardens, a nursery founded by Louis Pellier (1817-1872), who is known as the pioneer of California's prune industry. In October 1850, Pellier established the City Gardens, where with the assistance of his brothers Pierre and Jean, he introduced the French prune, also known as "la petite prune d'Agen," which translates to "the little Agen plum," to California during the winter of 1856. The California Historical Landmark #434 now marks the location of the City Gardens site. The park dedicated to California's "Prune King" was officially reopened in a public ceremony on October 18, 2023.

The Martin Murphy House was a historic home located in Santa Clara County, California. It was the residence of Martin Murphy Jr., who journeyed to California with his family in 1844, as part of the first wagon train to cross the Sierra Nevada. As the founder of Sunnyvale, Murphy had the house constructed using prefabricated lumber that had been transported around the Cape Horn in 1849. This house was the first frame house in Santa Clara County. The Murphy family maintained their residency in this house until 1953 when the city of Sunnyvale took ownership of the property. In 1961, a fire destroyed the house. The California Historical Landmark #644 now marks the location of Murphy's residence at Murphy Park in Sunnyvale.

Fremont High School is a co-educational, public high school in Sunnyvale, California, United States. Fremont is currently the only open public high school located in the city of Sunnyvale and is part of the Fremont Union High School District (FUHSD).

The Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum is a historical museum located in Sunnyvale, California. It is a replica of the original Martin Murphy family home. The Martin Murphy family, founders of the City of Sunnyvale, constructed the house in the 1850s. Since there were no sawmills near Sunnyvale at that time, they had the lumber milled and the house assembled to their specifications in Bangor, Maine, then shipped it in pieces around Cape Horn to Sunnyvale, where it was reassembled. It was held together with wooden pegs and leather straps, and was the first wood-frame house in Sunnyvale. The Sunnyvale Historical Society obtained its designation as a California State Historical Landmark in 1958. It was demolished by the city in 1961 due to extensive damage following a fire.The Sunnyvale Historical Museum was constructed as a replica at Sunnyvale Heritage Park next to the Sunnyvale Community Center, and was dedicated and opened in September, 2008, as a testament to the history of Sunnyvale and the contributions made by the Martin Murphy family towards the founding of Sunnyvale. It was funded through public donations and contributions from the State of California and the City of Sunnyvale. In the main exhibit room is a 60-foot mural of Sunnyvale history.Heritage Park also includes a Heritage Orchard of apricot trees and a barn with an outdoor interpretive exhibit on the agricultural history of the Santa Clara Valley. In December 2018, after removal of a park maintenance building, a new front entrance to the museum was created with additional outside exhibits.

Middlefield is a light rail station operated by Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), located in Mountain View, California. This station is served by the Orange Line of the VTA Light Rail system. Middlefield station is surrounded by an industrial area which includes some transit-oriented development on Middlefield Road between Ellis Street and Logue Avenue. Nearby offices include the headquarters for Coupons.com, MobileIron, Synopsys and Symantec Enterprise Security.

The Mountain View–Los Altos Union High School District (MVLA) is a school district serving high schoolers in Mountain View, Los Altos, and Los Altos Hills, California. The elementary and intermediate school students in the region are served by Mountain View Whisman School District and Los Altos School District.
