Its watershed is the largest in Polk County and covers 76,600 acres (310 km2) of which includes the cities and towns of Alleman, Altoona, Ankeny, Bondurant, Des Moines, Elkhart, Sheldahl, and Pleasant Hill. Fourmile Creek was so named from the fact a road crossing over it was 4 miles (6.4 km) from Des Moines.

Scotch Ridge United Presbyterian Church is a historic structure located in rural Warren County, Iowa, United States. It was built in 1883 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. The founders of the church were Scotch-Irish immigrants who could trace their ancestry to Scotland and were proud of their Scottish heritage. Scotch Ridge United Presbyterian Church was established on August 13, 1853. On that day Robert McElroy went to Chariton, Iowa to get the charter. The first church building was built in 1857 for $1,000. Pete Schooler and his wife sold two acres of the land for $30 on January 3, 1865, for a new Presbyterian Churchyard. On April 28 of the same year William Hastie and his wife sold one acre of adjacent land for $25 for a cemetery. The present frame church building was built in 1883 for $4,000 in the Gothic Revival style. Additional land for the cemetery was added in 1898 and 1971. An additional fellowship hall wing was added in 2010.

KBGG's studios and offices are located in Urbandale. The main AM transmitter is located off Fairview Lane in Pleasant Hill. KBGG is in the "Expanded Band," one of only a handful of stations at AM 1700. It is powered at 10,000 watts by day and 1,000 watts at night, using a non-directional antenna.

Banner Lakes at Summerset State Park is a 222-acre (90 ha) state park in Warren County, Iowa, United States, near the city of Indianola. Opened in 2004, the park is located on the site of a 1930s coal mine; its two namesake lakes were formed from the remnants of the mine. Both lakes at Banner Lakes are stocked with trout and are also home to bluegill, channel catfish, crappie, and largemouth bass. Each lake has its own boat ramp. The park is also popular with bicyclists, as it contains a 2-mile (3.2 km) paved loop trail that links with the longer Summerset Trail and six mountain bike courses. It also includes several hiking trails. The Banner Shooting Range, which is also run by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, is adjacent to the park.

The state fair was begun in Iowa in 1854 and the current fairgrounds were established in 1886. The fairgrounds were listed as an historic district on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987 as the Iowa State Fair and Exposition Grounds.
