Schwamendingen

Saatlen is a quarter in the district 12 of Zürich, located in the Glatt Valley (German: Glattal). It was formerly a part of Schwamendingen municipality, which was incorporated into Zürich in 1934. The quarter has a population of 6,727 distributed on an area of 1.13 km².

The A4 motorway in Switzerland begins from Schaffhausen, in northern Switzerland, and travels southward into central Switzerland. The general route of A4 is: Bargen - Schaffhausen - Winterthur - Zürich - Central Switzerland.

Schwamendingen Mitte (Schwamendingen centre) is a quarter in the district 12 in Zürich, located in the Glatt Valley (German: Glattal). Schwamendingen and Oerlikon became independent municipalities in 1872. These were incorporated into the city of Zürich in 1934, together with Seebach, Affoltern, Witikon, Höngg, Altstetten and Albisrieden. After 1934 Schwamendingen was divided into the quarters Schwamendingen Mitte, Saatlen and Hirzenbach. The quarter has a population of 10,322 distributed over an area of 2.23 km2 (0.86 sq mi).

The Glatt Valley (German: Glattal or Glatttal) is a region and a river valley in the canton of Zürich in Switzerland.

Hirzenbach is a quarter in the district 12 of Zürich, located in the Glatt Valley (German: Glattal). It was part of Schwamendingen municipality that was amalgamated into Zürich in 1934. The quarter has a population of 11,265 distributed on an area of 2.62 km2 (1.01 sq mi).

Sevanan Business School was a Swiss private business school. It offered management courses at undergraduate level and Masters level, accredited to London School of Marketing. Sevanan Business School provided international programs in business management & marketing management. There is suspicion the school closed with regards on being a part of diploma mills. The school was located at the World Trade Center in Zurich, Switzerland.

Glattpark is a large construction project in Switzerland that is taking shape in Opfikon, close to the border to Zürich. As part of the construction project a new neighbourhood will be built by 2020; it is designed to provide room for 7,000 residents and about the same number of jobs. Some of the favourable locational factors used to market the area are the direct proximity to the city of Zürich, where similar construction projects are being realized in Oerlikon and Seebach. The large service companies based in the north of the city and other companies in Glattbrugg, Rümlang and at the airport promise a large number of potential jobs. One of the negative points is that the area is about two miles from the threshold of runway 34/16 of Zurich Airport and thus practically in the axis line of the runway. However, construction in the area is placing a strong emphasis on noise isolation of the buildings, with inhabitants reporting that the noise levels are not significant.

Leutschenpark is a public park in the northern Zürich neighbourhood of Leutschenbach. As the main park, the 161,459 ft² Leutschenpark and its flowing shapes bring a new accent to the district which was previously characterized by industry and service buildings. The former industrial and commercial district to the north of Zürich is being transformed into an attractive, mixed neighbourhood for living and working. This also includes first-class open spaces. The park compromises elements of a traditional city park and an urban square.

Oerlikon Velodrome is an uncovered velodrome in the Oerlikon district of Zürich, Switzerland. It was built in 1912. The track is 333 m in length and is made of concrete. The velodrome holds 3000 spectators. It held the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in 1923, 1929, 1936, 1946, 1953, 1961 and 1983.

The Zoo Zürich is a zoo located in Zürich, Switzerland and together with the Basel Zoo is considered one of the best zoos in Europe. Opened in 1929, it is the third oldest zoo in Switzerland (after Basel and Arth-Goldau) and it accumulated a collection of 2,200 specimens of 300 species by its seventy-fifth year. It is located on Zürichbergstrasse, on the lower reaches of the Zürichberg in the Fluntern quarter. One of its popular events is the penguin parade, which is performed daily after noon if the outside temperature is below ten degrees Celsius. The zoologist Heini Hediger was director of the Zürich Zoo from 1954 to 1973. The current director is Severin Dressen. The zoo is member of WAZA and the EAZA. The most famous attractions are the Asian elephant exhibit and Masoala Hall, which are inside of a large dome. Guests can even view elephants from underwater. They are also known as the only and first European institution to successfully breed Galápagos tortoises. Over the course of the years, the Zürich attraction has sent the baby tortoises to more than two dozen other zoos. In 2005 the zoo discovered that the seven lemurs caught in Andasibe thought to be mouse lemurs were actually a new species later named Goodman mouse lemur.The zoo made international headlines in July 2020 when a Siberian tiger mauled a zookeeper to death in front of members of the public.

The Hallenstadion (German: Zürcher Hallenstadion, Zürich Indoor Stadium) is a multi-purpose facility located in the quarter of Oerlikon in northern Zürich. It is home to the ZSC Lions of the National League (NL) and has a capacity of 11,200 spectators. Designed by Bruno Giacometti, it opened on November 4, 1939, and was renovated in 2004–05. The Lions are set to move out of the Hallenstadion at the end of the 2021/22 season to move in a new 12,000-seat arena a few kilometers away in the Altstetten area. Construction for the new Swiss Life Arena officially began on 6 March 2019, with completion scheduled for the summer of 2022.

The Zürichberg is a wooded hill rising to 679 m (2,228 feet), overlooking Lake Zürich and located immediately to the east of the city of Zürich, Switzerland, between the valleys of the Limmat and the Glatt rivers. Its highest point is about 270 metres above the Limmat and it is part of a chain of hills, such as Käferberg, Adlisberg, Forch and Pfannenstiel, between the Greifensee/Glattal and Lake Zürich. It is a picturesque location, and the lower western side of the hill is now part of the residential district of Zürich. The Zürich Zoo and FIFA's headquarters are located on the Zürichberg as well. There are grand mansions on the roads up the hill, and it is also the location of restaurants and hotels. The upper part of the hill is mostly woodland and a popular recreational area. Zürich tram route 6, the Rigiblick funicular and the Dolderbahn rack railway all run up to different parts of the hill. The Dolderbahn runs up to the Adlisberg, whilst the Zürichberg Tunnel carries trains of the Zürich S-Bahn underneath the hill. In 1962, the faculty of science of the University of Zürich proposed to establish the Irchelpark campus on the Strickhofareal. The first stage the construction of the university buildings was begun in 1973, and the campus was inaugurated in 1979. The construction of the second stage lasted from 1978 to 1983. The campus also houses the anthropological museum Anthropologisches Museum, and the cantonal Staatsarchiv Zürich. Built in 1901 as Rigiblick restaurant, the former Gastsaal was re-opened as Theater Rigiblick in 1984.
