The Peninsula campus of Monash University is Monash's third-largest campus, with close to 4000 students and almost 300 staff. The campus is located at the "Gateway to the Mornington Peninsula", in the Bayside suburb of Frankston. It continues to specialise in its historical strengths of health and early childhood education. Monash teaching in primary education, nursing and physiotherapy are all based at Peninsula Campus. The campus offers programs from undergraduate through to PhD level. It has research strengths in health and well-being, education and business. At any one time, there are around 100 higher degree by research students at Peninsula Campus.

Frankston Hospital (officially Frankston Public Hospital) is a 454-bed public hospital located in the Melbourne suburb of Frankston in Victoria, Australia. It opened as the Frankston Community Hospital on 30 November 1941.It is the largest provider of general and speciality health care for Melbourne's Mornington Peninsula, and is the region's chief provider of acute secondary and tertiary medical and surgical services.The hospital has specialisations in mental health, maternity (midwifery) and pediatrics. It also has one of the busiest emergency departments in Victoria with 49 beds and around 63,000 presentations a year. The department was upgraded in 2015 at a cost of A$81 million.It is one of two hospitals in the Peninsula Health network, the second being Rosebud Hospital, which together support the network's smaller specialist campuses for community health, dentistry, physical and psychiatric rehabilitation, aged (elderly) and palliative care in Frankston, Hastings, Mornington, Mount Eliza and Rosebud.

It serves the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Frankston, and it opened on 30 November 1959 as Rail Motor Stopping Place No. 16. It was renamed Leawarra in 1962.The station serves the nearby Peninsula Campus of Monash University.

Frankston Park, known commercially as Kinetic Stadium, is a suburban Australian rules football ground located in Frankston, Victoria, in Australia. It is home to the Frankston Football Club, which plays in the Victorian Football League. Frankston Park is noted for the unusually long and narrow dimensions of its playing surface. It is also a rare example of a top municipal football ground which has, for most of its history, not been used for cricket during the summer months; in the early 1920s, the council determined that it preferred to leave the ground as a public space during summer and to not compromise the surface by installing cricket pitches; since that time, Jubilee Park has been the district's primary cricket venue.In 2008, the St Kilda Football Club had planned to move its primary training base from Moorabbin Oval to Frankston Park and to re-develop it into a top class training venue for the club; but these plans fell through due to high cost, and the club instead developed and moved to Belvedere Park in nearby Seaford.

It was established under the authority of the Archbishop of Melbourne and operated on his behalf by the parish priests of the five member parishes of the region — Frankston, Frankston East, Langwarrin, Chelsea and Seaford, through the College Board.

The Electoral district of Frankston North was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It was formed in 1985 when population increases in the Frankston area saw the Electoral district of Frankston divided into Frankston North and Frankston South, but absorbed back into Frankston in 1992.

The electoral district of Frankston is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It currently includes the suburbs of Frankston and Frankston South south east of Melbourne. The electorate was first created prior to the 1967 election and the Liberal Party held the seat until the Cain landslide of 1982. Population increases, however, meant the seat was abolished in 1985 and replaced by two electorates—Frankston South and Frankston North. In 1992, Frankston South was replaced mostly by a recreated Frankston. It became very safe for the Liberal Party, who won it with margins well over 10%. However the adjoining Labor-held seat of Frankston East—which had been created mostly out of the old Frankston North—was abolished prior to the 2002 election and much of its territory was incorporated into the seat. The old Frankston had a comfortably safe Liberal majority of 10.7 percent, but the redistribution reduced it to a quite marginal 3.2 percent. Labor's Alistair Harkness won the seat on a large swing, part of the Labor landslide at the 2002 election. He was returned at the 2006 election with a reduced majority, but was defeated in 2010 by Geoff Shaw.

Electoral district of Frankston East was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Victoria. It was created in 1992, mostly out of the old Frankston North. The seat is notable for having decided the 1999 state election, which proved to be the last election in which it was contested. The incumbent, Liberal-turned-independent Peter McLellan, died on election day, forcing a supplementary election a month later. Neither the Coalition nor Labor had won a majority, placing the balance of power in the hands of three independents. They deferred their decision until the supplementary election. In the 16 October supplementary election, Labor candidate Matt Viney won on a swing of 7.7 percent, resulting in a hung parliament. The independents then announced their support for Labor, making Labor leader Steve Bracks premier.
