Burquitlam station

Burquitlam is a neighbourhood and commercial district of the City of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada.

The City of Lougheed is the second-largest shopping centre in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, with 57,100 square metres (615,000 sq ft) and over 160 shops and services. It is located in the northeast corner of Burnaby near the Coquitlam border. The centre is located adjacent to Lougheed Town Centre station, an interchange station that connects the Expo Line and Millennium Line of Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain rapid transit system. Formerly known as Lougheed Town Centre or Lougheed Mall, the 16-hectare (40-acre) site is currently being redeveloped into a master-planned, mixed-use community that will include up to 23 residential towers, 300 new shops and restaurants, and more than two hectares (5 acres) of public parks and plazas.

Lougheed Town Centre (sometimes abbreviated as Lougheed) is an elevated station on the Expo and Millennium Lines of Metro Vancouver's SkyTrain rapid transit system. The station is located at Lougheed Highway and Austin Road in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Initially a Millennium Line station, a reorganization of SkyTrain service patterns in 2016 brought a branch of the Expo Line over the existing tracks to serve the station. It is one of three stations where transfer between the Expo Line and the Millennium Line is possible, the other two such points of transfer being Commercial–Broadway and Production Way–University stations. The station is adjacent to a mid-size shopping mall, the City of Lougheed, formerly named "Lougheed Town Centre", from which the station drew its name. A Korean neighbourhood exists within walking distance of the south side of the station.

Vancouver Golf Club, located in the Canadian city of Coquitlam, British Columbia, is the oldest golf club in the Lower Mainland.Established 113 years ago in 1910, it opened the following year on a former sheep farm on the west side of Blue Mountain. The suburban club was originally considered to be far outside of the major population centre of Vancouver, requiring a trip on the British Columbia Electric Railway and often an overnight stay at the club. Today, the club is considered to be centrally located in the Lower Mainland.The club has hosted the Canadian Women's Open three times on the LPGA Tour, in 1988, 1991, and 2012. The first two events were held as the du Maurier Classic, a women's major, and were won by Sally Little and Nancy Scranton, respectively. The 2012 edition was won by 15-year-old amateur Lydia Ko and the tournament is scheduled to return in 2015. Vancouver Golf Club also hosted one Senior PGA Tour event in the 1985, the Canada Senior Open Championship, won by Peter Thomson of Australia.The club became the subject of controversy in 2008 when it became known that a rule was implemented eight years earlier that required new members to be able to speak English, regardless of their ability to pay the $65,000 full-play membership fee. The club stated it did not forbid members from speaking other languages while on the grounds, but required the English proficiency in order to ensure that members could understood and abide by club rules.

The 1988 du Maurier Classic was contested from June 30 to July 3 at Vancouver Golf Club in Coquitlam, British Columbia. It was the 16th edition of the du Maurier Classic, and the 10th edition as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. This event was won by Sally Little.

The 1991 du Maurier Classic was contested from September 12–15 at Vancouver Golf Club. It was the 19th edition of the du Maurier Classic, and the 13th edition as a major championship on the LPGA Tour. This event was won by Nancy Scranton.

Burnaby Mountain Secondary School is in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. It is three stories and located at 8800 Eastlake Drive, at the intersection with Beaverbrook Drive. It is named after nearby Burnaby Mountain, which is also home to Simon Fraser University. The school is close by the Production Way-University SkyTrain station.

Port Moody Secondary School is a public coeducational high school located in Port Moody, British Columbia. The school offers the International Baccalaureate Program and the Career Preparation Program to its students. There are approximately 400 students in the pre-International Baccalaureate Diploma programme and the International Baccalaureate diploma programme tracks. Port Moody serves grades nine through twelve and has an enrollment of about 1,500 students as of January 2019. The school is respected for its academics, visual arts, musical arts and athletic programs.

Burquitlam was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia, Canada from 2001 to 2009.

Burnaby Mountain, elev. 370 m (1,214 ft), is a low, forested mountain in the city of Burnaby, British Columbia, overlooking the upper arms of Burrard Inlet. It is the location of Simon Fraser University Burnaby Campus, the Discovery Park research community, and the System Control Tower of BC Hydro and a residential neighbourhood with retail shops development called UniverCity. In November 1995, the Province of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University reached an agreement to transfer 330 hectares of university land to the City of Burnaby for inclusion into Burnaby Mountain Conservation Area.

Fraser International College (FIC) is located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada and was opened in September 2006. FIC is a private educational business that operates under an agreement with Simon Fraser University. Courses at FIC are designed in consultation with faculty and departments at SFU, which allows for an oversight of course material and quality. While under original and preliminary discussions at SFU, the FIC proposal (then called IBT) was the source of no deal of controversy. FIC is operated by Navitas Limited, a publicly listed Australian educational company (formally International Business and Technology Education Ltd.). FIC currently has more than 1300 students enrolled. Students in FIC come from more than 35 countries/regions.

SFU Exchange is a bus terminus for TransLink located on the campus of Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia. It opened on September 3, 1965, and consists of 2 exchanges: the main exchange located at University Drive at East Campus Road at the eastern part of the campus and the secondary, and original, exchange located at the Transportation Centre. The exchanges primarily serve students, staff, and faculty of Simon Fraser University, as well as residents of UniverCity.
