Whitmore Hall

Whitmore is a village and small curacy in the county of Staffordshire, England, near Newcastle-under-Lyme. The name Whitmore can be found in the Domesday book (as Witemore) and also when King John signed Magna Carta at Runnymede. Whitmore Hall, designated a house of outstanding architectural and historical interest and a fine example of a small Carolean-style manor house, is the home of the Cavenagh-Mainwaring family.

Loggerheads and Whitmore ward was a ward in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme, in the county of Staffordshire, England. It covered, amongst others, the villages of Knighton, Hales, Mucklestone, Ashley, Loggerheads and Whitmore. In 2011 it had a population of 6948.The Councillors for this ward since 3 May 2012 are Ashley Howells, David Loades and Tracey Peers. All three represent the Conservative Party on Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.

Acton is a hamlet in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. It lies four miles south west of Newcastle close to the junction of the A53 and the A5182, Trentham Road. Newcastle-under-Lyme District Council has an open windrow facility in Acton where it composts garden waste collected in the borough into a nutrient rich soil improver for local farms and other places including Trentham Gardens. There is a redundant church in the village bearing the inscription Wesleyan Church. It is now a private house. The Acton Hall Equestrian Centre is located in the village too.

Baldwin's Gate is a village in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire. The population details for the 2011 census can be found under Whitmore. There is a pub in the centre of the village called The Sheet Anchor, along with a Post Office & General Store, a primary school (Baldwin's Gate CE Primary School) and another small shop with a petrol station. There is also a Methodist church and just outside the village is Slater's Country Inn.

Keele services is a motorway service station, between junctions 15 and 16 of the M6 motorway near Keele in England. Operated by Welcome Break, it was built in 1963 and was designed by Terence Verity of Verity Associates. The nearest towns are Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme. Close by is Keele University and it is possible to walk and/or drive from the university grounds to the Service Station, and this has been a popular route for students. Both sides of the site have Welcome Break petrol stations, W H Smith and Starbucks. There are KFC and Burger King restaurants on the bridge over the motorway.

Keele Ward is a local council ward in the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme. It covers the village of Keele and the neighbouring University of Keele's campus. It has two local council positions. Elections last occurred in May 2014. Its councillors are Wenslie Naylon from the Green Party and Tony Kearon from Labour.

Keele Hall is a 19th-century mansion house at Keele, Staffordshire, England, now standing on the campus of Keele University and serving as the university conference centre. It is a Grade II* listed building.

The Hollywood Music Festival was held at Leycett in an area called Hollywood on the grounds of Ted Askey's Lower (pig) Farm at Finney Green, between Silverdale and Leycett, near Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, England, on 23 and 24 May 1970. It was notable for the first performance of Grateful Dead in the UK and also for the performance of Jose Feliciano and Mungo Jerry, and featured such notable bands as Free, Ginger Baker's Air Force, Colosseum, Family, Black Sabbath and Traffic. The company responsible for the festival was Onista Ltd, who promptly went bankrupt unable to pay festival staff. Onista was an offshoot of Eliot Cohen's Red Bus company, with Ellis Elias and Elliot Cohen as the promoters.

Keele University Science and Innovation Park is a science and business development facility located on the campus of Keele University in North Staffordshire and was established in the mid-1980s. It is wholly owned by Keele University. The Science Park focuses to support the growth of innovative businesses, particularly those active in research and development within the West Midlands region by providing a location and a wide range of business support services.

Keele University, officially known as the University of Keele, is a public research university in Keele, approximately three miles (five kilometres) from Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, England. Founded in 1949 as the University College of North Staffordshire, Keele was granted university status by Royal Charter in 1962.Keele occupies a 625-acre (253-hectare) rural campus close to the village of Keele and consists of extensive woods, lakes and Keele Hall set in Staffordshire Potteries. It has a science park and a conference centre, making it the largest campus university in the UK. The university's School of Medicine operates the clinical part of its courses from a separate campus at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. The School of Nursing and Midwifery is based at the nearby Clinical Education Centre.

The village is the location of Keele University and Keele Services, a motorway service area on the M6. Keele is located in the Keele ward of the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme with its name drawing from the old Anglo-Saxon Cȳ-hyll = "Cow-hill". The 2001 census indicated the parish had a population of 3,664,(increasing to 4,129 at the 2011 census) most of whom students at Keele University as one of the halls of residence, Hawthorns, now sold for land redevelopment, was located in the heart of the village.
