Keele University Science & Business Park

Keele University, officially known as the University of Keele, is a public research university in Keele, approximately three miles (five kilometres) from Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, England. Founded in 1949 as the University College of North Staffordshire, Keele was granted university status by Royal Charter in 1962.Keele occupies a 625-acre (253-hectare) rural campus close to the village of Keele and consists of extensive woods, lakes and Keele Hall set in Staffordshire Potteries. It has a science park and a conference centre, making it the largest campus university in the UK. The university's School of Medicine operates the clinical part of its courses from a separate campus at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. The School of Nursing and Midwifery is based at the nearby Clinical Education Centre.

Keele Hall is a 19th-century mansion house at Keele, Staffordshire, England, now standing on the campus of Keele University and serving as the university conference centre. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Keele Ward is a local council ward in the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme. It covers the village of Keele and the neighbouring University of Keele's campus. It has two local council positions. Elections last occurred in May 2014. Its councillors are Wenslie Naylon from the Green Party and Tony Kearon from Labour.

Keele University School of Medicine is a medical school located in Newcastle-under-Lyme and Shrewsbury. The first two years of the school's MBChB degree are mostly taught on the Keele University campus, while early contact with patients is critical, and there is significant interaction in a clinical environment from the second year onwards. As a constituent department of the University of Manchester, the school initially provided undergraduate medical education to clinical medical students who had finished their pre-clinical training at either the Bute Medical School at The University of St Andrew's or the School of Medical Sciences, University of Manchester. Those students were awarded the degrees of MB ChB by the University of Manchester. From 2007, Keele started to develop its own undergraduate medical curriculum and students were awarded a degree from Keele University, rather than MB ChB from Manchester as had been awarded previously. The third year is primarily taught at the Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and the County Hospital at Stafford (both part of the University Hospitals North Midlands Trust). The fourth and fifth years are also taught at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. Medical students are also placed in General Practice across the counties of Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire. The medical school is ranked third in the United Kingdom by The Guardian and The Sunday Times. The school was ranked 4 out of the UK's 33 medical schools in The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2017 with a student satisfaction score of 92.4%. Within the United Kingdom the medical school is ranked second only to Oxford and ahead of Cambridge by The Guardian and The Sunday Times. Globally, the School of Medicine at Keele is ranked 9th by the QS World University Rankings (51–100), placing higher than several American Ivy League universities, including Cornell, Brown and Penn. The school provides a learning environment that emphasises problem-based learning and small-group instruction. It also has a strong research emphasis and is home to some well-known researchers. The school also directs the National Institute for Health and Care Research School for Primary Care Research (NIHR). It also has an Impact Accelerator Unit and a Clinical Trials Unit (IAU). Keele prides itself on producing outstanding doctors and consistently ranks among the top medical schools in the UK. The school originally accepted about 120 UK/EU and 10 non-EU medical students each year for the 5-year MBChB course and 10 UK/EU/non-EU students for the 6-year course. From 2011 the total accepted increased to about 150 from all sources. This number may vary depending on NHS requirements and funding. Within the United Kingdom the medical school is ranked third by The Guardian and The Sunday Times . The school has an excellent reputation and is highly competitive, with an admissions rate of just over 10%.

Silverdale is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, west of Newcastle-under-Lyme. It is a self contained ward of Newcastle Borough Council returning 2 Councillors. Historically, the village was dominated by the coal industry and records indicate coal was mined in the area as long ago as the 13th century. The last colliery, Silverdale Colliery, closed in 1998. Brick-maker Ibstock also operate a large clay quarry next to the former colliery.

Keele is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire, England. It is approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Newcastle-under-Lyme, and is close to the village of Silverdale. Keele lies on the A53 road from Newcastle to Market Drayton and Shrewsbury. The village is the location of Keele University and Keele Services, a motorway service area on the M6. Keele is located in the Keele ward of the borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme with its name drawing from the old Anglo-Saxon Cȳ-hyll = "Cow-hill". The 2001 census indicated the parish had a population of 3,664,(increasing to 4,129 at the 2011 census) most of whom students at Keele University as one of the halls of residence, Hawthorns, now sold for land redevelopment, was located in the heart of the village.

Silverdale railway station was a railway station that served the village of Silverdale, Staffordshire, England. It was opened by the North Staffordshire Railway in 1863 and closed to passengers in 1964.In its later years, the station was used by staff operating trains to and from the adjacent colliery. For this purpose, a large rail loader was built.

Crown Street Halt railway station (also known as Silverdale (Crown Street) Halt) is a disused railway station in Staffordshire, England. Situated on the North Staffordshire Railway (NSR) Stoke to Market Drayton Line, this halt was opened in 1905 when the NSR introduced a railmotor service between Silverdale and Trentham as a response to competition from tram companies. Situated closer to Silverdale town centre than Silverdale station, the station remained open until 1949.

Keele services is a motorway service station, between junctions 15 and 16 of the M6 motorway near Keele in England. Operated by Welcome Break, it was built in 1963 and was designed by Terence Verity of Verity Associates. The nearest towns are Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme. Close by is Keele University and it is possible to walk and/or drive from the university grounds to the Service Station, and this has been a popular route for students. Both sides of the site have Welcome Break petrol stations, W H Smith and Starbucks. There are KFC and Burger King restaurants on the bridge over the motorway.

Loggerheads and Whitmore ward was a ward in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme, in the county of Staffordshire, England. It covered, amongst others, the villages of Knighton, Hales, Mucklestone, Ashley, Loggerheads and Whitmore. In 2011 it had a population of 6948.The Councillors for this ward since 3 May 2012 are Ashley Howells, David Loades and Tracey Peers. All three represent the Conservative Party on Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council.

Knutton and Silverdale was a ward in the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme, in the county of Staffordshire, England. It covered the area of Knutton and the north east end of Silverdale. In 2011 it had a population of 4313.

Newcastle Academy is a mixed secondary school located in Newcastle-under-Lyme in the English county of Staffordshire.Previously known as Sneyd High School, it was later renamed Newcastle Community High School and then gained Science College status. In October 2015 the school converted to academy status and was renamed Newcastle Academy. The school is now part of Multi-academy trust Windsor Academy Trust, but was formerly part of the United Endeavour Trust, which is now part of WAT. Newcastle Academy offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils, with some courses offered in conjunction with Clayton Hall Academy.
