Miyake-Hachimangū (三宅八幡宮) is a Shinto shrine, in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto, Japan. The shrine is famous for worship to beneficial to children, such as baby colic, academic achievement, safe delivery of childbirth. Because Mushi (虫, parasitic worms, insects, bugs) was thought to cause baby colic (疳の虫; kan-no mushi), the shrine also has worship for power to expel Mushi. Therefore the shrine is so-called Mushi-hachiman (虫八幡). Recently, many pieces of large size of Ema was excavated, that represent worship to expel Mushi, and the Ema were designated as National Folk Cultural Properties.

The Kyoto International Conference Center (国立京都国際会館, Kokuritsu Kyōto Kokusai Kaikan), abbreviated as ICC Kyoto and previously called the Kyoto International Conference Hall, is a large conference facility located at Takaragaike, Sakyō-ku, Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. The Kyoto Protocol was signed in this hall. The center was designed by architect Sachio Otani to an unusual hexagonal framework, resulting in few vertical walls or columns, and opened in 1966 with an addition in 1973. It is a rare remaining example of Metabolism in Japan (the newer and more famous Nakagin Capsule Tower Building is undergoing demolition in 2022). Today the total facility provides 156,000 m² of meeting space, and consists of the main Conference Hall with large meeting room (capacity 2,000) and a number of smaller rooms, an Annex Hall (capacity 1,500) and Event Hall, with the Grand Prince Hotel Kyoto nearby. Both Main Hall and Annex Hall are equipped with simultaneous interpreting facilities for 12 languages.It is located north of downtown Kyoto, and may be reached via the Karasuma Line subway.The complex is the location for the finale of John Frankenheimer's cult 1982 martial arts action film The Challenge, starring Scott Glenn and Toshiro Mifune. The complex also serves as the backdrop for a meeting between Harry Kilmer (Robert Mitchum) and Goro Tanaka (James Shigeta) in The Yakuza (1975).

Tadasu no Mori (糺の森), which literally translates to "Forest of Correction" or "Forest of Purification" in English, is located in the Sakyo Ward of Kyoto City, at the site of the Kamomioya Shrine. The forest itself is a sacred grove associated with an important Shinto sanctuary complex known in Japanese as the Kamo-jinja, situated near the banks of the Kamo River just north of where the Takano River joins the Kamo River in northeast Kyoto city, Japan. The term Kamo-jinja in Japanese is a general reference to Shimogamo Shrine and Kamigamo Shrine, the traditionally linked Kamo shrines of Kyoto. The Kamo-jinja serve the function of protecting Kyoto from malign influences.Positioned at the convergence of the Kamo River and Takano River, the area of Tadasu No Mori's virgin forest encompasses about 12.4 hectares, or 124,500 square meters (more than double the size of Liberty Island where the Statue of Liberty stands).
