City of Keilor

Keilor is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 16 km (9.9 mi) north-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Cities of Brimbank and Hume local government areas. Keilor recorded a population of 5,906 at the 2021 census.Whilst most of the suburb is contained within the City of Brimbank, the northern section of Keilor, north of the Calder Freeway, is within the City of Hume. This section of the suburb is located on the flood plain of the Maribyrnong River, and is home to many market gardens. The suburb is mainly residential with large industrial developments in adjacent suburbs. There are several shopping centres in the area including Keilor Shopping Centre and Watergardens Town Centre approximately 5 km away.

The Keilor archaeological site was among the first places to demonstrate the antiquity of Aboriginal occupation of Australia when a cranium, unearthed in 1940, was found to be nearly 15,000 years old. Subsequent investigations of Pleistocene alluvial terraces revealed hearths about 31,000 years BP, making Keilor one of the earliest sites of human habitation in Australia. Remains of megafauna suggest a possible association with Aboriginal hunting.

The Green gully archaeological site is an Aboriginal archaeological site in Keilor, Victoria, Australia. The site was discovered during soil quarrying in the 1960s, when artefacts and a burial were uncovered in the alluvial terraces in the Maryibyrnong Valley.The site is located near the confluence of Taylors Creek and the Maribyrnong River at 37°43′46″S 144°49′42″E. The Keilor Terraces were identified as a sequence of Pleistocene alluvial terraces, which in several locations have revealed very old Aboriginal remains, for example the Keilor archaeological site.The site has also been important in development of an understanding of climate change and different river conditions in the Melbourne area over a period of more than 30,000 years.The Catalogue of Fossil Hominids Database notes that the site is dated to about 6500 years old.

Overnewton Anglican Community College (more commonly known as 'OACC', or simply Overnewton) is an independent, co-educational, day school, founded in 1987. The college has two campuses, the Canowindra Campus (formerly Taylors Lakes Campus) located in Taylors Lakes, Melbourne, Australia and the Yirramboi Campus (formerly Keilor Campus) located in Keilor. Prep to Year 4 (commonly known within the College as the Junior School) and Year 9 is only available at the Canowindra Campus; and the Year 5 to Year 8 (known as the Middle School) and Year 10 to 12 (known as the Senior School) are only available at the Yirramboi Campus in Keilor. Students at the school are encouraged to become involved in a range of co-curricular activities that complement the academic program. Christian education is a core subject at all levels. Families are encouraged to take part in a Contribution Scheme, whereby they contribute 18 hours of service to the College each school term. The school has participated for many years in the Rock Eisteddfod Challenge in both the junior, premier and RAW divisions.

Keilor Stadium is an Australian indoor arena that caters to both basketball and netball. It is located in Keilor Park, a north-western suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. From 1987 until 1990, the stadium was the home of National Basketball League team the Westside Melbourne Saints. In 2015, a AU$6.5 million refurbishment of the almost 30 year old stadium was completed with 3 extra courts being built. The new courts were officially opened on 7 December.

Green Gully Reserve is the home of Victorian Premier League team Green Gully. It is based in Melbourne, Victoria. Green Gully Reserve has a capacity of 10,000. The reserve has 7 soccer grounds in total. Three of them used for match days and the other three for training purposes. There is one ground right next to the Green Gully training pitches, but it does not belong to Green Gully, it belongs to the Keilor Wolves Soccer Club. The ground has quality lighting used for night matches and an undercover standing room.

Horseshoe Bend Farm is a 26 hectares (0.10 sq mi) park in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, adjacent to Brimbank Park on the Maribyrnong River. Formerly a commercial farm, it is now managed by Parks Victoria, but no longer has any livestock. An original 1930s weatherboard cottage still exists on the site. Previously the park was closed for nearly five years but has recently opened again.

Keilor Park is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 15 km (9.3 mi) north-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Brimbank local government area. Keilor Park recorded a population of 2,684 at the 2021 census.Keilor Park is bounded in the west by the Maribyrnong River, Tullamarine and Melbourne Airport in the north, in the east by Steele Creek and in the south by the Calder Highway. According to the 2001 ABS Census, 39% of the population is of Italian or Greek descent. The median age of the area is 37, though more of the population is below 35 or in their 50s. The most common sector of employment for men is manufacturing (25% of men) and for women retail (21% of women). The suburb contains the Keilor Botanic Gardens.

Keilor Downs College (abbreviated as KDC) is a government-funded high school which services the Keilor Downs area of Melbourne, Australia. The co-educational school caters for students from Year 7 to Year 12.

Kealba is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 15 km (9.3 mi) north-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Brimbank local government area. Kealba recorded a population of 3,226 the 2021 census.The name of the suburb is derived from the letters of two of its neighbouring suburbs, namely Keilor and St Albans.

Keilor Botanic Gardens, located in Melbourne's north-west in the suburb of Keilor Park, is entirely devoted to Australian native flora. Created in 1982, it covers 10 hectares. It is managed by the City of Brimbank as part of Keilor Park Reserve and Botanic Gardens.
