HemisFair '68 was the official 1968 World's Fair (or International Exposition) held in San Antonio, Texas, from April 6 through October 6, 1968. The theme of the fair was "The Confluence of Civilizations in the Americas", celebrating the many nations which settled the region. The fair was held in 1968 to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the founding of San Antonio in 1718. More than thirty nations and fifteen corporations hosted pavilions at the fair. The Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) which oversees World's Fairs and Expositions, awarded HemisFair '68 with official Fair status on November 17, 1965. The theme character of the fair was a dragon named Luther created by Sid and Marty Krofft, who was later renamed and starred in the Kroffts' Saturday morning television show H.R. Pufnstuf. The main premise of the show was taken from their production for the Coca-Cola pavilion at the fair.

The Tower of the Americas is a 750-foot (229-meter) observation tower-restaurant located in the Hemisfair district on the southeastern portion of Downtown San Antonio, Texas, United States. The tower was designed by San Antonio architect O'Neil Ford and was built as the theme structure of the 1968 World's Fair, HemisFair '68. It was named as a result of a name the tower contest created by the executive committee. 68 people submitted the name the tower is now known by.It was the tallest observation tower in the United States from 1968 until 1996, when the Las Vegas Stratosphere Tower was completed. The tower is the tallest occupiable structure in San Antonio, and it is the 30th-tallest occupiable structure in Texas. The tower is located in the middle of the former HemisFair '68 site and has an observation deck that is accessible by elevator for a fee. There is also a lounge and revolving restaurant at the top of the tower that provides panoramic views of the city.

It is owned by Alpha Media with radio studios on Eisenhauer Road in Northeast San Antonio. KJXK has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 100,000 watts, currently the maximum for American FM stations. The transmitter is atop Tower of the Americas in downtown San Antonio, off Cesar Chavez Boulevard.

KQXT-FM (101.9 FM, "Q101.9") is a San Antonio, Texas, adult contemporary radio station operating with 100,000 watts from a transmitter site on the Tower of the Americas in downtown San Antonio. KQXT is owned and operated by iHeartMedia, (formerly Clear Channel Communications). Its studios are located in the Stone Oak neighborhood in Far North Of San Antonio Texas.

KZEP-FM (104.5 FM) is a Spanish CHR radio station broadcasting in and around San Antonio, Texas, United States. The station is owned by iHeartMedia, (formerly Clear Channel Communications). Its studios are located in the Stone Oak neighborhood in Far North San Antonio, and the transmitter site is atop Tower of the Americas downtown. KZEP was formerly owned by Lotus Communications until May 2008.

Alamo City Comic Con (ACCC) is a pop culture convention that is annually held in downtown San Antonio, Texas, taking up the majority of the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. ACCC brings top tier celebrities from the world of pop culture movies, TV, comics, video games and cosplay and is currently the largest convention in San Antonio as well as one of the largest events of its kind in the state of Texas. It is also one of the fastest-growing conventions in the United States, with approximately 73,000 attendees in 2014 and just over 78,000 in 2015. In 2014 director and producer Alejandro Cabrera followed and documented The Alamo City Comic Con and the surrounding community for his 2015 documentary, Syfytonians. The film was complete success locally and has credited for reinvigorating the company 2015 show turnover.

San Japan is an annual three-day anime convention held during August/September at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, San Antonio Grand Hyatt Hotel, and San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. The convention is held over Labor Day weekend.

The Henry B. González Convention Center (formerly San Antonio Convention Center) is the City of San Antonio's convention center located in Downtown San Antonio, Texas, along the banks of the River Walk. The facility is a central component in the city's convention industry. The Center, named for the late US congressman Henry Barbosa González, hosts more than 300 events each year with over 750,000 convention delegates attending from around the world.

The Grand Hyatt San Antonio is a 34-story, 1,003 room hotel in Downtown San Antonio, Texas, built in 2008. It is the tallest building constructed in the city during the 2000s, the second tallest hotel in the city, and the third tallest skyscraper overall in the city. It is 424 feet (129 meters) tall, and is located adjacent to and connected with the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. The building was designed by the nationally recognized firms Arquitectonica and Kell Munoz Architects, and is mixed residential/commercial (hotel) use.

The San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk is a 30-story, 350 foot tall hotel along the San Antonio River Walk in Downtown San Antonio, Texas, constructed in 1979. It is the 8th tallest building in the city and one of the tallest hotels in the city.

The San Antonio Street Circuit was a temporary street circuit located in San Antonio, Texas, which hosted IMSA GT Championship races between 1987 and 1990.
