Orland Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States, with a small portion in Will County. The village is a suburb of Chicago. Per the 2020 census, Orland Park had a population of 58,703. Located 25 miles (40 km) southwest of Chicago, Orland Park is close to several interstate highways, with the I-80 east-west coast connector as its southern border. The Metra commuter rail system links it to the Chicago Loop and from there to O'Hare and Midway airports.

Built in 1981 and 1982, as an enclosed shopping mall, it was largely unsuccessful on this front, and was redeveloped into a largely outdoor mall in 1999. The mall is owned and managed by Pine Tree LLC.

Twin Tower Sanctuary (Old Sanctuary of the United Methodist Church) is a historic Methodist church building at 9967 W. 144th Street in Orland Park, Illinois. The church was completed in 1898, six years after Orland Park was founded, to serve the city's large Methodist population. Architect William Arthur Bennet, who later became well known for his Prairie School works, designed the church in the Queen Anne style. The north side of the church is flanked by the two hexagonal towers that give the church its name. The interior of the church has a Sullivanesque patterned tin ceiling; according to Louis Sullivan scholar Tim Samuelson, it is the best-preserved example of a Sullivanesque tin ceiling in the country.The church was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 16, 1988.

The John Humphrey House is a historic home in Orland Park, Illinois. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005. The second permanent house built in Orland Park, it was home to Illinois Senator John Humphrey.

As of 2018, Orland Park 143rd Street is the 86th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 591 weekday boardings.As of January 16, 2023, Orland Park 143rd Street is served by all 30 trains (15 in each direction) on weekdays. One of the outbound trains that stops at the station makes a flag stop. Saturday service is currently suspended. The station faced major reconstruction and reopened on April 27, 2007. From this station southward the SouthWest Service operates on one track only. This station has been recognized as being a major piece in Orland Park's downtown.

The station is 28.7 miles (46.2 km) away from Chicago Union Station, the northern terminus of the line. In Metra's zone-based fare system, 179th Street is in zone F. As of 2018, Orland Park 179th Street is the 162nd busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 208 weekday boardings. The station was the southern terminus of the line from January 3, 1995 to January 30, 2006 when it was extended to New Lenox and Manhattan.As of January 16, 2023, Orland Park 179th Street is served by all 30 trains (15 in each direction) on weekdays, with 10 inbound trains originating here and 10 outbound trains terminating here. Saturday service is currently suspended. Although 179th Street is no longer the terminus of the SouthWest Service, most trains end their trips at this station. During peak hours trains continue to Laraway Road and Manhattan.
