Orland Park Place, formerly Orland Court, is a shopping center in Orland Park, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Built in 1981 and 1982, as an enclosed shopping mall, it was largely unsuccessful on this front, and was redeveloped into a largely outdoor mall in 1999. The mall is owned and managed by Pine Tree LLC.

Orland Park is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States, with a small portion in Will County. The village is a suburb of Chicago. Per the 2020 census, Orland Park had a population of 58,703. Located 25 miles (40 km) southwest of Chicago, Orland Park is close to several interstate highways, with the I-80 east-west coast connector as its southern border. The Metra commuter rail system links it to the Chicago Loop and from there to O'Hare and Midway airports.

Orland Square (also referred to as Orland Square Mall) is a shopping mall located in Orland Park, Illinois. It is the largest mall in the Chicago Southland, the south and southwest suburbs of Chicago, covering an area of 1,229,884 sq ft (114,260.0 m2). It opened on March 15, 1976 and received major renovations in 1995. The mall features JCPenney, Macy's and Von Maur. The mall has been a hub for commercial activity and development, driving dramatic growth in the surrounding area for the past 20 years. It serves as a major retail destination for the communities of Frankfort, Homer Glen, Mokena, New Lenox, Oak Forest, Orland Hills, Orland Park, and Tinley Park.

WLS (890 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station in Chicago, Illinois. Owned by Cumulus Media, through licensee Radio License Holdings LLC, the station airs a talk radio format. WLS studios are in the NBC Tower on North Columbus Drive in the city's Streeterville neighborhood. The station's programming is also available in the Chicago metropolitan area via a simulcast on the HD2 digital subchannel of sister station WLS-FM. Its transmitter site is located on the southwestern edge of Tinley Park, Illinois in Will County. WLS is a Class A station broadcasting on the clear-channel frequency of 890 kHz with 50,000 watts, using a non-directional antenna fed by a Nautel NX-50 transmitter, with a Harris DX-50 serving as a backup transmitter. Both transmitters run in MDCL (Modulation Dependent Carrier Level) mode to improve efficiency. The station's daytime groundwave service contour covers portions of five states. At night, its signal routinely reaches 38 states via skywave. WLS participates as an Emergency Alert System primary entry point, serving northern Illinois and western Indiana.

As of 2018, Orland Park 153rd Street is the 94th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 544 weekday boardings.Unlike all other stations on the SouthWest Service (besides Union Station), tickets are sold here. As of January 16, 2023, Orland Park 153rd Street is served by all 30 trains (15 in each direction) on weekdays. One of the outbound trains that stops at the station makes a flag stop. Saturday service is currently suspended.

Tinley Park – 80th Avenue is one of two commuter railroad stations along Metra's Rock Island District Line in Tinley Park, Illinois. The station is officially located on 18001 South 80th Avenue, lies 25.1 miles (40.4 km) away from LaSalle Street Station, the northern terminus of the line. Parking is available on both sides of the tracks. On the north side, where the station house resides, it is available in the east or west parking lots. On the south side, it is available in the Timber Road parking lot. As of 2018, Tinley Park — 80th Avenue is the eighth busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 2,064 weekday boardings.As of 2022, Tinley Park — 80th Avenue is served by 48 trains (24 in each direction) on weekdays, by 21 trains (10 inbound, 11 outbound) on Saturdays, and by 16 trains (eight in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. On weekdays, three inbound trains originate from 80th Avenue, and three outbound trains terminate at 80th Avenue.

Tinley Park (formerly Bremen) is a village in Cook County, Illinois, United States, with a small portion in Will County. The village is a suburb of Chicago. Per the 2020 census, the population was 55,971. It is one of the fastest growing suburbs southwest of Chicago. In 2009 BusinessWeek named Tinley as the best place in America to raise a family.

Hickory Creek is one of two commuter rail stations along Metra's Rock Island District line that are located in Mokena, Illinois. The station is located at 9430 Hickory Creek Drive east of a former section of US 45, near Exit 145A on Interstate 80, which is the current southbound exit to US 45. It is 27.2 miles (43.8 km) away from LaSalle Street Station, the northern terminus of the line. In Metra's fare-based system, Hickory Creek is in zone F. As of 2018, Hickory Creek is the 45th busiest of Metra's 236 non-downtown stations, with an average of 1,079 weekday boardings.As of 2022, Hickory Creek is served by 42 trains (21 in each direction) on weekdays, by 21 trains (10 inbound, 11 outbound) on Saturdays, and by 16 trains (eight in each direction) on Sundays and holidays. Hickory Creek was built in 1993, and is a fully enclosed brick-faced shelter with no ticket agents. Parking is available in front of the station on Hickory Creek Drive. Currently, no bus connections are available at the station.

The Tinley Park Public Library serves the communities of Tinley Park and Orland Hills, Illinois. The building has 58,700 square feet of space, and as of May 2018, houses 116,637 books, 12,911 videos/DVDs, 14,118 audio recordings, 270 print serials, 1,754 video games, and 83,407 children's holdings. Additionally, the library subscribes to 64 databases, and circulated 696,753 items to cardholders during FY 2017-2018.

Illinois's first congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Illinois. Based in Cook County, the district includes much of the South Side of Chicago, and continues southwest to Joliet. From 2003 to early 2013 it extended into the city's southwest suburbs until reaching the border of Will County, and covered 97.84 square miles (253.4 km2), making it one of the 40 smallest districts in the U.S. (although there are four smaller districts in Illinois). The district had a population that was 65% African American, the highest percentage of any congressional district in the nation, but with redistricting that percentage has now declined to 52%. It includes the home of former President Barack Obama. The 1st is a majority-minority district, and has been since at least the 1920s. In 1929, it became the first district in the 20th century to send an African American to Congress when Republican Oscar Stanton De Priest was elected to represent the district. The 1st has been represented by an African American Member of Congress ever since, the longest ongoing stretch of black representation for any seat in the House of Representatives. It has been held by a Democrat since 1935 when Arthur Mitchell, the first African American Democrat elected to Congress, took the seat as part of the New Deal Coalition. In 1949, district representative William Dawson became the first African American to chair a congressional committee. Since redistricting by the state legislature after the 2010 census, it is 51.3% black, 40.6% white, and 9.8% Hispanic in population. The district is currently represented by Jonathan Jackson who was elected to succeed longtime incumbent Bobby Rush in 2022.
