Moëlan-sur-Mer (French pronunciation: [mwɛlɑ̃ syʁ mɛʁ], literally Moëlan on Sea; Breton: Molan) is a commune in the Finistère department and administrative region of Brittany in north-western France.

The canton of Moëlan-sur-Mer is an administrative division of the Finistère department, northwestern France. It was created at the French canton reorganisation which came into effect in March 2015. Its seat is in Moëlan-sur-Mer. It consists of the following communes:

The Aven is a natural watercourse on the south coast of Brittany, France. It is 39.3 km (24.4 mi) long. Its source is near Coray. It flows in a generally southerly direction through Rosporden and Pont-Aven before discharging into the Atlantic Ocean at the seaside resort Port Manec'h, part of Névez. Paul Gauguin spent some of his life living in the town of Pont-Aven, where he enjoyed painting scenes by the river Aven. The waters of the river are rather rapidly flowing and are tidal up until the town of Pont-Aven. The water quality has been tested as slightly alkaline with a pH of 8.50 (at a location in Pont-Aven) where Gauguin was known to have painted his noted Lavenders (Lumina Tech, 2006). Summer water temperature has tested at 17.5 degrees Celsius and electrical conductivity of the river tested to be .19 micro-siemens per centimetre. The waters are relatively clear with Secchi disc tests at Pont-Aven yielding a measurement of 65 centimetres.

Ploemeur (French pronunciation: [plømœʁ]; Breton: Plañvour), sometimes written instead as Plœmeur, is a commune in the Morbihan department in the region of Brittany in north-western France. It is a western suburb of Lorient.

Quéven (French pronunciation: [kevɛ̃]; Breton: Kewenn) is a commune in the Morbihan department of Brittany in north-western France.

Pont-Aven (French pronunciation: [pɔ̃tavɛn], Breton: 'River Bridge') is a commune in the Finistère department in the Brittany region in Northwestern France.

The Musée des Beaux Arts de Pont-Aven also known as Museum of Pont-Aven was created in 1985 with the support of the French Museum Department and the Finistère Conseil Général. The modern wing built in 1985 is reserved for exhibitions and the old wing, which was renovated in 1987, houses a historical reconstruction of Pont-Aven at the end of the 19th century as well as the permanent collection dedicated to the Pont-Aven School.

The Pension Gloanec was a pension in Pont-Aven, Brittany, France, that was a base for artists of the Pont-Aven School in the last half of the 19th century. It was known for economical but excellent quality food, where the diners served themselves from shared dishes set out on a long table in the dining room. There were few rooms, so most of the artists boarded elsewhere in the town. Its most famous resident was Paul Gauguin who stayed several times between 1886 and 1894. Today the building houses a bookstore, gallery and exhibition space.
