Brest Business School, also called ESC Bretagne Brest, France, is a French business School in the city of Brest in western France.Founded in 1962, Brest BS provides business and management courses to 900 students. Currently, the school offers seven different programmes both in French and in English. The school is supported by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Brest. In January 2013, the school merged with three others to found France Business School. After the end of France Business School, as of January 2015, ESC Bretagne Brest regained its independence, thus also changing its name to Brest Business School.

The Institut supérieur de l'électronique et du numérique (ISEN; Higher Institute for Electronics and Digital Training) is a group composed of four French grandes écoles (higher education establishments). They propose a high level engineering program in ICT (information and communication technologies), Micro & Nanotechnologies and Innovative Design.

The University of Western Brittany (French: Université de Bretagne-Occidentale; UBO) is a French university, located in Brest, in the Academy of Rennes. On a national scale, in terms of graduate employability, the university oscillates between 18th and 53rd out of 69 universities depending on fields of study. Overall, the university is ranked 12th out of 76 universities in France.

Questel Fort (Fort du Questel) is a redoubt in Brest. It is a fortified structure of the Vauban type. It forms a closed square, with the main entry point placed on the least exposed side. This large quadrangle, 100 meters wide, is located between Fort Keranroux (1.5 km south) and Fort Penfeld (1 km to the North-east), and is also part of the same fortifications as Fort Montbarey. The Fort du Questel monitors the valleys of the Moulin du Buis to prevent any enemies from becoming established and bombarding the city and harbor. Surrounded by deep moats and accessed by a drawbridge, it consists of a masonry wall (scarp), topped by a chemin de ronde, or covered path for musketeers. This path is itself dominated by an earthen rampart, angled to support artillery (26 guns total). The garrison of about 200 men had access to various galleries, including two large ones underground that connect the central courtyard to the parapets. Note also the presence of toilet facilities, which at the time of Vauban were still a privilege. Built on a six-hectare site, the Fort du Questel dominates the valley of Allégoet, a tributary of the Penfeld. This site is now part of a set of refurbished natural spaces that lead to the banks of the Penfeld by a track passing in front of the Cavale Blanche hospital. Onsite, the fortress offers walks through its sheltered green moat and its underground galleries, staircases, scarps and counterscarps, esplanade and fresh greenery nearby.

The Pont de l’Harteloire (French pronunciation: ​[pɔ̃ də laʁtəlwaʁ]) is a bridge in Brest, France. Upstream of the Pont de Recouvrance, it connects the two banks of the river Penfeld and overlooks the arsenal de Brest. It is on the site the naval transporter bridge was destroyed during the Second World War.

The École Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées de Bretagne (English: National Institute of Advanced Technologies of Brittany) often referred as ENSTA Bretagne formerly ENSIETA is one of the 207 French engineering schools accredited on 1 September 2017 to deliver engineering diplomas (French grande école of engineering). The ENSTA Bretagne is a higher education establishment and a research centre run under the supervision of the French Ministry of Armed Forces which governs a total of 4 engineering schools: École Polytechnique, ENSTA ParisTech, ENSTA Bretagne and ISAE-Supaero. It is the most prestigious engineering school in France which deals with marine and naval engineering. Moreover, ENSTA Bretagne is an applied school for the École Polytechnique, because of its excellence in lots of strategic fields. The school gets a specific partnership with IMT Atlantique, the second Institut Mines-Télécom of France while the best one is Telecom Paris. Every year, it trains approximately 180 general engineers and generally recruits its students through the Concours Commun Mines Ponts competitive entrance exams. ENSTA Bretagne is partly a military academy for engineers because it trains engineers for the armed forces, although nowadays the majority (80%) of trainees are civilians. The ENSTA Bretagne is located in Brest, France.

The Brest Prison (French - bagne de Brest) was a 254m long prison in Brest, France. It was built between 1749 and 1751 by Antoine Choquet de Lindu, dominating the military port it was built to serve. It could house 3000 prisoners (sometimes as much as 10% of the town's population), children as young as 11 as well as older people. It was closed in 1858, and demolished in the late 1940s.

Rue Saint-Malo is a paved street in Brest, France. It is located in the Carpon valley, against the plateau des Capucins in the Recouvrance quarter. Only its lower half survives, as the oldest street in the city. It runs along the wall of the terrain de la Madeleine, where once stood the convent which took in 'sinful women' and (after the revocation of the edict of Nantes) Huguenots. It is lined with 17th- and 18th-century houses and overlooked by terraced gardens. After its fountain, the road runs into the levée de Pontaniou and ends in the staircase of the Madeleine which leads to the plateau des Capucins.

Recouvrance is the section of the city of Brest, France, on the right bank of the River Penfeld. The popular and historically-Breton quarter is in contrast to the largely-Francophone quarter of Brest-même or Brest-proper, on the left bank. The lift bridge over the Penfeld was named after this neighbourhood, as was a schooner that was built in 1992 in the city.
